Hi everyone. I will be taking a trip from southwestern Utah to Largo, FL. My navigator and I want to take our time and see lots of things. Carol wants to see the Grand Canyon (a different post) and I want to stop and see Diana Cummings in Austin and we both want to see New Orleans. Past that, we're very flexible. This time of year we want to stay far south and probably will take I-10.
So my question is ... what do you think we should see? We're taking our time.
thanks.
PS: I'll be driving back starting around April 1st. What things should I see on the way back? I'm thinking the Natchez Trace for one.

Never been down that way but if it were me, I would follow Route 66 for most of it, but that is just me.
I am sure the gals on here will know of lots of things to check out along the way that they have seen and done.
Have fun!

Janice, it sounds like you will be leaving within the next couple of weeks. Stay south is probably good going down. Still cold with some bad road conditions on some of the roads you would normally travel.
I know you like majestic views, but do you like historical sites? Museums? Are you a foodie? Natchez Trace is definitely up there. Have you toured San Antonio? Big Bend has great majestic views. Diana has you covered in her neck of the woods...but double check her calendar as she plans to take hula lessons in early April.
If you come or go near San Antonio or Houston let me know. Mid April I am headed norther than where I am now!

Janice, the Natchez Trace runs north to south (or vice versa). You basically cross it going the way you are. You could always take extra time and take it north and then take a different route either to FL or on the return west. But it would be going in the opposite direction of what you're planning.
By "this time of year" does that mean soon? The Grand Canyon is in the cold part of AZ and at a high elevation, so you might want to check temps and maybe do that on your return. Although it's been pretty nice much of this winter. What to see would depend a lot on what route you plan to take. If you go the northern part of AZ, I'd definitely recommend going to Canyon de Chelly - but again it'll be colder there. Maybe consider taking the southern route on the way east, come back northern AZ - yes, I realize I just repeated myself!!!
Birdie just posted as I was about to - lots of the same thoughts as me!

Yes, Beth, we were thinking the same about the more north roads right now. May not improve much in the next two weeks. But April they should be more doable. I will be surprised if tornado alley does not get whipped around this year. So many cold fronts dropping down and still lots of southerly wind flows.
Right now they predict next week to be colder and wetter like the past week. My rig won't be up there.
You know the routine Janice, check the weather for a few days out and have your stopping places narrowed down to a few within 50 miles of each other. Then go girl.
