Minor delay

As many of you know, I was supposed to leave this morning to start my trip to S. Texas for the winter. Went to the storage place yesterday to bring rig home and she wouldn't start. My son and I who had never done this before by ourselves managed to jump it with only 2 phone calls. I brought her home and left engine running to help charge battery and warm up interior a little as I loaded her up. Later on, other son came over to help mount scooter rack and load scooter and said we needed about 8 more inches clearance from the garage. Wouldn't start. I seriously procrastinated about getting my scooter rack ordered and it just didn't llok like that was going to happen. So, after remembering my vow to quit sweating the small stuff, I decided I'd leave without scooter if I had to. Got up early-ish this morning and started making calls. Did you all know that battery places don't deliver - go figure! If ever a business would seem to need house calls, I'd think that would be the one. Anyway, called a friend to come help since I don't know anything about hooking or unhooking batteries. He said he'd come after he did some errands. With one thing and another, including temp of about 12 degrees we didn't get done til after 1 p.m. Was originally planning on driving about 4 1/2 hours today and leaving so late would probably have caused me to hit the two cities at p.m. rush hour so decided to postpone departure til morning. Got scooter rack on and scooter is sitting and waiting for my son to show up and help me load her. I'm sure S. Texas is fine without me and will be patiently awaiting my arrival a day later. I'm just grateful that this happened while I was still home and knew where to go and had friends to help instead of needing to depend on the kindness of strangers along the way.

Glad you had family and friends there to help. But one thing I discovered about rver's - they all jump right in to help - so you'll never have to feel that you are alone. Did you get a roadside service? I have the Good Sam's one and won't go anywhere without it. Never believed in the roadside services until I started rving.
And we're looking forward to having you join us in TX - lots of us here
Lori and Ernie will be here with Sparkle and me for a few days the end of the month. Looks like a mini gtg.

Well? I know that I typed out a post to this?? Have no idea where the heck it went? Never use to have any problem with my posts disappearing like that? But it seems to be happening a lot lately. Hmmmmm
Kelpie you will get over this little bump in the RV road and leaving right soon. It always gets better? And then ya find another little bump. Or maybe the bump finds you???
Hope you have a fantastic trip, stay safe and have fun!
Keep Sparkle and Beth out of trouble!!!

I'm glad you got things fixed and ready to go for tomorrow.
Be safe and take your time !!
As far as getting things fixed along the way - you'll figure it out !!
Echo - I've had posts disappear too, but I think I figured out what I was doing wrong - if you hit submit and someone has posted something in the meantime, the forum won't post your post, it'll show you the post that was made before you and ask if you still want to submit - I don't know if that made any sense or not, but that's what I've found.

You're right Trudy. I've had that happen to me.
Kelpie (Blanche) We have all depended upon the kindness of strangers at one point or another. I personally couldn't do without them.

Hope you get on the road soon. If you're anything like me, I'm sure you're anxious to get going!
We are thinking of going to the gulf in TX next winter. Where are you TX ppl? I've been surfing the Net looking for warm winter CG's.

Better to find out about a battery problem BEFORE you get on rthe road and are in a remote place. My engine battery gave up the ghost in a beautiful little NF campground in AL....great place to camp, but my SIL and I were the only ones there and no cell service. Fortunately after several tries, got it started and drove straight to a town & had it replaced. Hope you have a great time on your trip to TX. Don't forget pictures!

Thanks, all. I did get on the road this a.m. and drove about 270 miles south. It's still cold here, but snow is only a dusting so that is an improvement. Will be doing pics later.

Minor delays are nothing,.. as long as you are safe, and the delay is nothing more than a battery. Now you can leave and relax and enjoy your trip. Keep in touch! and Have fun!!!
