I am still working to plan my late August through beginning of October trip to the Canadian Maritimes Provinces. Obviously, I want to visit the area where Anne of Green Gables was written, but I have no idea where to go or what to do in any of the other places. Any suggestions???

I had considered taking a short trip also to Newfoundland until I discovered the ferry cost $295 for a vehicle the size of mine. Yikes!

We are just starting to make our plans for 2016. Check the itinerary of fantasy rv tours for ideas.

PM Carold if she doesn't respond. She and her husband did most of that area. AND they decided to go ahead and pay for that ferry after long thought and were very glad they did (I remember asking that question). I can't remember the year/time frame, but they would have lots on their blog from the trip.

Here is a link to the Road Scholar Itinerary for The Maritimes.

Places I have been and thoroughly enjoyed.

The Fortress of Louisbourg
The Cabot Trail. Doing this route counterclockwise from Ingonish around to Cheticamp puts you on the ocean side of the highway which makes it much easier to stop at the many scenic pullouts.
Maritime Museum in Halifax. Large collection of artifacts from the Titanic.
Port Royal National Historic Site and it's other related historical sites depicting the Acadian Settlers and their deportation.
Charlottetown Festival Anne of Green Gables and Evangeline, both great performances.
Prince Edward Island National Park and the red sand beaches have a lot of good birding.

So much to see and do.

I have been to PEI and NS each separate trips. In the not too distant future I will be touring NB.
Hope this helps. Take your time and enjoy.

Another resource is forums.motorhome.com. They have a section on Alaska and Canada.

The POI Factory has a lot of information, but you have to work to get it. It has information that you can manipulate and plug into your GPS, of course, also depends on your GPS. You do have to sign up for an account. But it is free mapping information. I used ti use it a lot, then I got lazy. I am using it again...forgot how much work.

Google is always good for finding information. Google for their (the city you are going to) Visitor Information Centers.

Then there are those Canadians that we love to hate. They know all the really cool places.

Lots of blogs out there to, but you gotta look for them.
