As I read some of the posts I get the impression you all know each other from some where else? Was there another forum or have you all met while traveling? Great way to keep in touch.
Anybody out there NASCAR fans?
Beth if you are driving to Alaska be sure to get the most up to date MILEPOST it is essencial to have.

Well most of us have known each other from another forum. The other forum had a dust up so one of the gals set this one up. And a few of us have met out on the road at small GTG's like the one they just had this weekend up outside of Lancaster PA. But for the most part we really know each other from postings and the pics that we post. It's a fantastic group of women who welcome just about all. And then ya kinda get turned into family after ya hang out for awhile! LOL
I'm not sure who might be NASCAR fans. I think I've seen some of them talk about it. But for me it's not something I've ever gotten into. I grew up about 28 miles from Watkins Glen which of course is now part of the NASCAR circuit. Went to a few races up there to work as parking attendant, camping lot attendant and worked in the pits as an EMT. The last time I worked as an EMT in the pits it was for a ? 24hr ? Burger King race or something like that. It was so boring that I fell asleep in my lawn chair. Only booboo I saw the whole night was some scrubbed up knuckles on a mechanic. Altho the other woman in the skin tight neon red jumpsuit I worked with that night had a 'ball' running around the pits. And now I live about 25mls from Bristol. Oh lordy I hate seeing race weekend come. Ya can't move around here. There's people everywhere. And every year without fail a bunch of car/truck accidents from someone trying to race out on the streets and roads. I think that for the most part must be a southern thing. But it breaks my heart when I hear of the ones that don't make it and can never walk away from them. It's usually the young'ins or at least the ones under 40 that think they can drive like their hero's.
But hey I see you joined up Friday. Wander around and read as much as ya can handle and settle in. Personally I think we are the greatest bunch of RV woman on the whole net!!!
Welcome to ya. Do ya use a shortened version of your on line name or a nickname????

Well we live just outside of Indy (about 40) miles so the traffic doesn't bother us - and we lived in Vegas, that town really hops for the race weekend - have never gone to one though. Friends call me Carol - though right now my husband is calling me "Pelada" baldy in Spanish cause I blinked as the hairdresser closed in on the top of my head. My hair is now shorter than his and his is pretty short.
Hard to get used to the humidity here. We used to leave Las Vegas every summer and go north until it cooled down there. Enough ratteling on.

Carol, welcome to the forum! Glad you joined us. I like racing but am not a die hard fan, I kinda lean toward Tony Stewart, but don't really care who wins as long as it is a good race.

Almost all of us came from another forum as others have said, and some of us still frequent both forums. There are great women on both :) Beth did a wonderful job of putting this one together in a very short time!!

Carol only involved in NASCAR through my son and DIL. She loves Tony Stewart and he loves Jeff Gordon. We have Daytona about 100 miles from me, and they had the chance to go last year and loved it. But you can believe they have the races on TV whenever they are on!! Here in town we have the Gainesville Dragway and people come in here from all over the world for those races.

As stated earlier, many of us have met through small gatherings, several of us met in Ocala at a state park there, earlier this year, and look forward to meeting again maybe in October. Whoever is close is certainly invited to join in that gathering. They had a gathering earlier in Tennessee, so just watch the forum for where the gatherings will be next.

Glad you joined us here.

Nan

Welcome Carole. Never been to a Nascar race - maybe in my future if they could hold a quiet one LOL. Most of us met on another forum and some have met in person. We're having a week long GTG in Kerrville, Texas 11/3 thru 11/7 at Schreiner Park. Gonna see the Alamo, Riverwalk, etc. Come join us if you can. Some are coming earlier and some later. Check it out on the GTG post. Again, welcome.

Welcome Carol! We are big NASCAR fans. We plan on going to the race in April if all goes well! We have friends who introduced us to the camping side of Nascar and we always go with them. Its always great fun, but we don't take the kids alone. Right now we only get to go to one race a year, but hopefully that will change at some point. Welcome to the list!

Hi Carol.

Yes, this was put together just a week ago - and most of the women here came from the other forum. But you are not the only one here who did not, and I believe there is another today who just was activated who wasn't on that one. As time passes, although some will belong to the other and this - some just this - and many will join that never knew about the other - we'll become a much more blended family.

And we women do become family really quickly.

To all the rest of you, I knew Carol by the name of Ann on another forum she and I both frequent - that has nothing to do with RVing. I'm happy to have her join us and am thrilled with the wealth of information she has.

I'm make sure to get the milepost book just before leaving for Alaska - I want to make sure I have the most current edition. Thanks for reminding me - and maybe you can again before next summer, Carol LOL - I'll probably be scratching my head thinking wasn't there something else I meant to do ?
