Getting back in the groove

Postby Ackcminnie » Sun Dec 28, 2014 4:24 pm

Hi all,
It's been a long time since I posted although I have kept up with all your posts!
I have been battling sciatic pain and still can't figure out how this all got to be such a big part of my life. I hate it!!

I had an MRI and now I think I should go for another opinion since my regular doctor put me on meloxicam on a daily dose. Every time I get that prescription filled, the warnings just make me uneasy. It says to not take it long term. What exactly is long term, I have no idea, and all those warnings of stroke or heart attack , I am worried.

Anyway, we did take our trip out west in Miss Minerva ( as dh calls our Minnie Winnie) but we really went too far, too fast in too short of time. 5000 miles in 3 weeks over every major road, 70, 80, and 40. Never again will I go through Denver and over the vail pass! I was so scared!! I hated the mountain roads. Will have the East and West Mountain directories before we ever go again.

Found out that we absolutely love the West, especially Utah. Will go back this summer only planning a little wiser. The bridges of Madison county were a highlight for me...loved that movie and dh put our names in the roseman bridge!

I have learned so much from all your posts and wish everyone a blessed new year!

Hi Karen,
We haven't met yet, but I sense a kindred spirit with your comment on mountains. I consider the western mountain directory my bible & in general avoid I-70 thru Colorado like the plague.
I hope they can help you with your pain so you can enjoy going on the road more. I did the 5000 miles in 3 weeks thing in 2013. That is a lot of miles to cover in a very short time.
I look forward to your future posts & plans.
Take care,
Catherine

Good to see you post Karen, It sounds as though you found a spot you really like in Utah but had to climb the highest mountains to find it :) I think a second opinion is always a good idea especially if you have been prescribed a medication you aren't comfortable taking. The massage therapist I go to is very good at resolving sciatic pain. Just be sure and check references and training if you go that route.
