Do Something Nice for Yourself Week

Postby JudyJB » Sun Dec 21, 2014 8:34 pm

I am declaring this "Do Something Nice for Yourself" week. I think this is especially important for those of us who are on the road and/or for whatever reason will not be spending the holidays with family. I am going to relax at "home" and treat myself to some stone crab claws if I can find them.

So what are you going to do nice for yourself this week? It could be buy or make something that you would normally not buy or make--like homemade bread or a special meal. Could also be going somewhere you love to go to, or calling an old friend or two.

Judy- I like that idea and had the same. So at Trader Joe's I bought some Red Argentinian Shrimp (misread the price but that's OK). I love to eat good food and since I will be on my own this week plan to fry those up in homemade tempura, and haven't decided on the rest yet but am looking forward to it. Food oh comfort food! Thinking dessert now..

I'm cancelling Wednesday's and Friday's dailies so I can have some extra "downtime". Of course, Wednesday's walks would be charged extra for holiday eve; one owner probably wouldn't want to pay it anyway! That's about all I am doing for myself but it's enough for right now.

Great suggestion, Judy. Now I just need to figure out what that might be

I am hoping to finally leave town and head south.....I am sitting in the house with three layers on and my back is still chilled...even with my fuzzy red Woolrich vest I found on the way to Alaska (special thanks to CArol who needed boots that day....)...... :?

What a great idea! I'm in Santa Barbara with family for Christmas. It's warm and sunny today so, even thought I have lots of holiday errands to do, I think I'll take my dog to the beach! Thank you!

Judi, I sure envy you being in SB! I love that town and the beautiful beaches! There is a nice beach northwest of town called Arroyo Burro Beach (or Hendry's beach by locals) that is really nice and has a dog park there and a restaurant. Used to be a stray cat sanctuary before it went to the dogs! I used to sit up on the cliffs (fenced off now) and watch the sunsets. It is near Hope Ranch so there are sometimes horses on the beach and hang gliders flying off the cliffs too.

Have a nice Christmas!

I'm with Sarah not knowing what I would like to do for myself. Other than doing nothing.

Great idea. Now expand on it and do it all year! If we don't take care of and pamper ourselves, chances are we won't be pampered.

I think we women too often spend our time thinking about doing nice things for other people.

Sarah and Martha, it could be as simple as reading a good book or calling an old friend you haven't talked to for a long time.

OK so I took this and ran with it and bought myself a new motorcycle! Good idea Judy, thanks! :D :D
