Trying to Cross Wyoming (Springtime)

Okay in planning my Spring trip I've gotten myself as far as Douglas Wyoming. Now I need to get into Idaho, hopefully over the lowest mountain pass possible. Anyone familiar with Wyoming have any suggestions. Keep me off the big interstates, please.

According to my mountain directory your best bet to avoid the passes is to go to Casper, take 220 to 287 then drop south to Rawlings. Take I-80 to Rock Springs and then north on191. That takes you toward Jackson. Before Jackson go east (oops  that should be west) into Idaho on 26 which takes you to Idaho Falls. There is one pass after entering Idaho on 26.

It's almost impossible to avoid interstates in Wyoming. That said, they aren't as busy, therefore not as bad. And you know I hate them. Unless you want to the glorious mountains, and thus the high passes, I might not pick Wyoming for your route in the spring. It's why I travel north to the east of the Rockies in Nebraska, etc.

Karen where are you headed to?
I was raised in Jackson Wy and live in the summer in eastern Id on the west side of the
Teton's ..
Do you want to go into Jackson and visit the Grand Teton National Park/Yellowstone area?
if you do than that will change some of the routing...
Marda had a good route other than go west young lady go west not east
and I'm trying to visualize a pass in ID on that route...might have to pull the atlas out
I did I take that road a lot and don't know a pass unless you go into Jackson and go over Teton Pass into Idaho
and then over Piney Pass..to 26....
you can avoid that pass if you don't want to go to Jackson head south down the canyon turn right and follow 26
into Idaho...it follows the reservoir and follows Snake River but I'm not remembering a pass but perhaps the book
has them and the locals don't consider them as a pass  regardless let me know when you will be in the area and if I'm there by
then I will meet you and we can have a visit...even if it's just ice cream at the square ice cream place...

The pass on 26 has some grade but it says it is a good two-lane with 40 and 45 mph curves so can't be too bad. And, yes, that is going west :D
