Ok, here’s the scoop. It’s a 2002, 20’ Pleasure Way Excel TD Ford. It has 47,500 miles. New tires in ’06. One owner, all maintenance records, transferable extended warranty until 6/10. Transferable warranty on tires. Asking $19,500 (reduced from $22,500)

















Anybody know about this?



Pros: has 3 things I’m looking for in an upgrade: twin beds, enclosed wet bath, generator. Also awning that I don’t currently have.

Cons: a little older and more miles than I would have preferred.

So….any advice?

It sounds as though it has everything you were looking for. Have you lowballed them? I made the owner a ridiculous offer, thinking they would throw me out on my ass. They were taken aback and said no, then called me two days later and accepted. This is a buyers market for RV's. That was my first RV, not this one.

I once had a car that had air shocks and ya had to put air in them on occassion, could
make them soft or more firm, I do not know if this is the same principle as air springs.
maybe google it and see what ya find out. Its a nice rig though, but I would offer
less of course just to see if I could get it for less.

I'm not scared by the year - as you wouldn't be on your current rv - just the miles you're trying to go down on.

That said - how many hours on the generator? Less is not always better in this case. Has it been run monthly? Does it start easily and will it carry a load? Try it!

And on the warranty what is included? Does it cover the things like the fridge and the generator as well as the engine, etc? Check and find out exactly what is covered and what the deductible is.

Then, like Sparkle, if you are happy with all the answers, don't be afraid to make an offer that is what you're willing to pay. I did similar to her on this - they told me their low price point - I told them that was too high. Called them after I got home and told them that while I wouldn't go to their price, I would like to give them my high price (about $4K less than theirs) and let them think about it. Later the same night they called me back and not only accepted my price - but drove the rv to me (a few hundred miles) and I gave them 2 nights at a nice motel. If they hadn't come down to my price, then this wouldn't have been the rv for me. Oh, and you might want to see what the current value of this Pleasure Way is (I use NADA Guides for a base.) I just took a look and it seems they are asking about what it's worth- but that doesn't mean you can't still try lower.

He was asking $22,500....midway between low & high Nada value. I offered 19,000, less than the low value. We compromised at $19,500. Told him I'd let him know Tuesday after I talk to the bank. Maybe I should have started lower, but didn't really expect him to come down $3000. 200 hours on generator...he says he runs it a little weekly. We tried everything... generator started right up, ran quietly, and we ran the ac off it. warranty covers everything, deductible $150-$200 range...can't remember. Thanks for the good advice.

I thought I probably would have bought it on the spot for that amount LOL - so good luck to you. And from what you said about what the other dealer was offering you in trade, you can probably sell yours for close to this purchase price. I'd like to see more hours on the generator - that's the one thing I've had some trouble with from day one - as this one had about 200 hours when I got it - and that meant it wasn't run as it should be (at least 1 hour every month under at least a 1/2 load) - so make sure you run that sucker

And, yes, I love that layout - that would be a good layout for me also. Which they'd think a little more on how they layout the small C's.

Well, in truth, I think what the other dealer was offering me was an adjustment on his asking price and calling it for trade, because according to Nada, my RT isn't worth that much. No harm in trying though, I can always come down.

Cool Liz! Good find. I've been looking all over TX, not too many PWs. There was a 2005 in Denton on the Net, but sold before I called. Another 2005 nearby was a wreck inside, so I assume engine and systems in same shape. I said thanks, but no thanks. Did you see this one at the RV show? Do they have used units there? Sorry if that's a dumb question! Good for you that you have the week-end to think it all over, on the other hand, if you have fallen in love with it you have a long week-end ahead!

Diana, this Pleasure Way was at a private owner, but they did have one 2006 at the RV show. I mentioned they seemingly dropped the price and offered me 17000+ for my trade, but when I got home & looked up its value, what their end result was the high end of nada value. So you gotta do your homework and if it seems too good to be true, it likely is. The 2006 had about 56,000 miles, more than this 2002 I looked at today.

Most rigs at the Rv shows are new models or new 2008s they're trying to move. But, if they sell them, they take in some trades. Ask about those right after the rv show.

Liz...is this a diesel? Close to 48,000 is hardly anything on a diesel.

No, gas...didn't want a diesel.

That's a good thought about the used ones that might be available after a show. So much information. This forum is like a gps for rv shopping!

At the big show I went to last April, I could've gotten new rv's at almost 1/2 price - less than some used ones - on the final day of the show within a couple hours of them closing up. So, if you really like something they have - new or used, see what they'll offer, then get hold of them again just before the end of the show if you want to see if they'll come down. I was told by others this isn't unusual - but not all of them do it.

Low mileage and good price....go for it!

Liz, the PW looks great. You know your own mind and if you feel comfortable about it, do it. I know easier said than done.
