Here is a link to the "purple penguin" story. It is absolutely insane, in my opinion. How many kids really think they are in the wrong body anyways? How will they label the bathrooms now? I think it will cause way more confusion for the kids, especially the grade schoolers. Would like to know what the teachers on here think about it... (and who came up with "purple penguin???"

There are crazies in this world and it seems they grow in number particularly when it comes to education. I would be home schooling or looking for a good private school if I had kids and lived there. Purple Penquins!! And they think this will help bullying.

I liked this persons comment " Common sense has died a messy and undignified death and its passing is going unmourned."

not to worry, apparently it was something brought up in a training session and somebody passed out some of
the leaflets from training to some parents and of course the media expanded on it. Its not gonna happen.

Wow the media really 'expanded" that article as it said " the administration of the public schools have instructed the teachers to not use gender-specific phrases such as “boys and girls,” “ladies and gentlemen,” and “you guys,” as well as any other expressions or phrases that specify a child’s gender when attempting to get the attention of the young students."
It is things like this that reinforces my belief that watching the news or reading the paper is pretty much a waste of time. This morning our paper had an article about all the misinformation about the way the hospital where the man died of Ebola was misdiagnosed. The public will never know if it was really the nurse that didn't pass on the information as to where the patient had been, or if the doctors are the ones who missed it.

The sad thing is the fact that they would come up with an idea like this for consideration should be cause for concern.

When it became the fashion to become politically correct in the country, we lost all touch with reason.

You can just bet the politicians had a hand in this.

My sister teaches in Florida. (Retiring this year, thank goodness!) The politicians are very controlling. One year, they assigned a required number of minutes to each subject for each day. It wasn't until the teachers came back from summer break and added up the minutes that anybody realized there weren't that many minutes in the school day!
