Luckinbach Texas Hee Haw

Yesterday we all (Carole, Joyce, Donna and myself) all drove to Luckinbach Texas. For the one or two of you that haven't heard of it, its a little town that Willie Nelson used to give 4th of July concerts in. If you blink you miss it. Its a another of our Hill Country places where cowboys and bikers mix. There's a post office/store/bar and the big dancehall and that's it. It was pretty cold so there weren't but two bikers and everyone else appeared to be a tourist. The regulars probably stayed home until it warms up or at least until the dancehall opened at 8pm. There were a couple of guys playing guitar and singing in the bar.

Here's Joyce and Carole in front of the post office/store/bar.

There a guy who brings his Texas Longhorn complete with saddle for tourists. I talked Joyce into getting on for a picture. Welcome to Texas!

That bar looks awful small. If there is a crowd I would think you have to be a very friendly person.

Evie and I were there last June when we went to the Hill Country....had a blast there. It was on my "absolutely under no circumstances are we gonna miss that" list! Think we went around Hazel Baker's Barn to get there, tho. One of the guys there had a cd and I told him I would buy it if he would sing me a song and get his picture taken with me. He also accused me of playing with his butt when Evie took the picture...not! But it was all fun.

Sounds like a fun place. Will have to go there - maybe on the way home. Love the picture of the long horn - good thing he didn't start bucking.

That old longhorn hardly moves - guessing he's pretty old. The guy doesn't charge - just works for tips. We gave him $5. Gives him a perfect excuse to play grab-ass as he helps you up on the steer. Imagine he enjoys it more when the person going up is a lot younger than we were. Yeah, the bar/post office/store is pretty small. The building is narrow and long with the little bar in the back. People usually sit outside at all the picnic tables when the weather's nice. The day we were there they had the potbellied stove fired up.
