I'm at Topaz Lake Nevada

Got tired, so pulled off into this lovely small RV park. Julie Hurley got Olive an appointment with her vet for tomorrow morning. Olive is fine, just needs a bit of maintenance.
I'm having the most wonderful trip. Yesterday I drove around Mammoth Mountain and Yosemite National Park. I spent the night in Yosemite. Yay Senior Pass!
Right now I'm looking out at a lake, trying to stay awake for a few more hours. If you haven't driven 395 down the east side of California, I highly recommend it. The views are breathtaking. Tomorrow I head for Lake Tahoe and then over to the coast to visit friends. Have some housekeeping chores and errands to run before I land there for at least a few days. So don't know how far I'll get tomorrow. Everyday has been an adventure and I'm meeting the most interesting people. I've never felt unsafe. Life is very very good.

So glad you enjoyed 395! And now you are in my neck of the woods!
Just over Sonora Pass (not for RVs!) on the other side of the mountains
to Jamestown. But alas , I'm in Texas. Have fun at the coast!

Wonderful news, thanks for checking in. There are advantages to traveling solo. The dogs hardly ever argue with our plans.... :) So glad that your expedition is proceeding full of discoveries.

Thank you, everyone. Alas, I am not a picture taker. I think that's called a photographer  I might have already posted this list, but what the heck:
Nights 1&2 were spent in Abilene State Park, Texas
Nights 3-7ish were in Palo Duro Canyon State Park, Texas
Nights 8-9 Walmart at Edgewood, NM. I was getting roof leak fixed
Nights 10-12 Santa Fe National Forest, Pecos Wildnerness, Santa Fe, NM. Boondocking next to the Pecos River. Amazing! It was the end of Memorial Day weekend.
Nights13-14 Walmart in Santa Fe. Lots of errands in Santa Fe and sightseeing downtown. Met an amazing woman named Lynn who camps in the mountains of NM
Nights 15-20 Lake Abiquiu, above Santa Fe. Met lovely man who took me with him on 5 days of the most amazing exploring. I saw country I never would have seen on my own. Breathtaking views. And I was in Taos twice for great food and art.
Night 22 Walmart, Santa Fe More housekeeping errands. Found good laundromat, dog park, and food co-op.
Night 23 Bonita (Bonito?) campground Coconino Forest. Not so great but I met very interesting people
Night 24 Homolopi Mtn. Campground above Kingman, AZ. Breathtaking. No words to describe. On top of the world. Met wonderful people I will never forget.
Night 25 Von's at Bishop, CA More interesting people.
Night 26 Yosemite National Park, CA. Spent the day exploring Mammoth Mountain and Yosemite, then slept at White Wolf campground.
Night 27 Ta Da! That's tonight at Topaz Lake. All dates and durations are approximate. I haven't kept records and I'm losing track. I think I have have too many days here but I also think I left out some places. Not important. I'm on an adventure!

Diane, I thought of you today. Why are you still in Texas? I was looking forward to seeing you out here in CA.

Nikki, you're discovering why some of us are full-time, and why others are part-time - and yes, 395 is a gorgeous route. You're going to some of my favorite places. So glad you are enjoying them and the people you meet along the way. Sounds like this trip, even with it's glitches here and there, has been a win-win for you.

Has sweet Olive adjusted to walks instead of her past late evening off leash romps around the nearby golf course? I noticed you have found an occasional dog park but from experience I know that most of the exercise often comes on the end of a leash (for safety...) Hope that Olive is finding interesting things to sniff and friendly people to rub her belly! :)

Just now back on line. Thank you for all the thoughtful responses. I'm in Point Arena,CA. Was here for a few days earlier, went into Bay Area to visit with old friends, and came back here yesterday. Have driven Hwy 1 and 128. If you've never driven 128, put it on the list! Olive is doing very well. She's such a good companion and she makes friends everywhere we go. Some great stories about that. Now I'm resting at a friend's house, trying to decide what's next. Beth, maybe I am understanding the lifestyle. All I know is that I don't want to go back to the sticks and bricks in Texas

I've been out long enough that I'm not on a vacation or even a road trip. This is just life, the way I live. At least it feels like that most of the time.

I'm considering finding a place to stay from mid July to mid Sept. Any thoughts?

Nikki
