Grills

Last two trips were spent cooking inside, crockpot and electric skillet, but a grill would be better. What are some suggestions for a table top grill you can share ?

We don't use a gas grill. We have a Weber Smokey Joe. It's nice and compact.

We also found out that the regular round Weber replacement grill grate fits the truck rim many places use as a fire pit. Then I just cook over the coals of the campfire.

Vickie has this one for travel (although the one with the side tables, I think).
I have it for home.

We both love it.
I wish it could help her cooking, though.
However, it is not a miracle grill.

Yes, mine has the little flip out side tables for sitting stuff on. I don't remember what size it is.
(Mitch sure doesn't pass up any food cooked on it, though. )

Looks like a little George Foreman, but gas.

I am a novice when it comes to this stuff but I bought a small gas GRILL last year and tried to cook on it with a pot and pan. Didn't work, didn't get hot enough (didn't even cook scrambled eggs!). Figured out that they are pretty much only good for grilling, not cooking. So this year I bought a portable gas STOVE for cooking on. And then I am going to get a cheap charcoal grill for hamburgers and hotdogs, etc. since I like the taste (and smell) better with the charcoal.

So I guess it depends on what and how you like to cook. I always check the reviews on line before buying anything. Coleman used to be considered the best but the reviews aren't all that great on some of their products anymore, so check all the brands.

Good point with the reviews, I believe in them too.

Rethinking charcoal, I have a gas grill at home, but I use my grill a lot. Charcoal takes longer to get started with, but camping is more laid back and I do love the taste of the charcoal when it comes to steaks and burgers. I just remembered, I have a little cheapy charcoal grill in the attic that has never been used, I will use that on the next trip. They have grills at every site where I go camping, I just feel funny about using them because there is no telling what has cooked on them.

The Weber charcoal chimney is wonderul and simple and very effective for starting a load of charcoal.

X2 on the chimney starter. It works like a charm, just wad 2 sheets of news paper in the bottom, load your charcoal and a match.

Good excuse to buy the weekend paper
