Levelers

Okay, got hoses taken care of. BIl seemed impressed that I knew exactly what I wanted. Told him how I got so smart.:D
Now, next question - for those of you who don't have leveling jacks, what do you carry with you to level your RVs? Since my class C is only 23.5 ft long, my storage space is minimal. Saw several options at CW and then, of course, there are boards.
Thanks for your input.

I found getting a 2 x 6 and having it cut to my desired lengths was a much easier task and they don't wear out. Much less expensive too. One 8 foot length board will give you all the boards you need.

Hi if an 8' is too long for your storage area you could cut a couple 2' pieces. I always forget to put down my stabilizers... went all winter without using them...

Nan how is your daughter doing? I do not believe I have seen any posts since the first one...

Actually, I started out with 2x4's. First, they are heavy. Second they do split and wear out. Third, the Orange plastic ones are easier to arrange in different configurations. In other words, I'm now a believer in the Orange lynx levelers.

Partly, it depends on your wheel arrangements. I have dual wheels in the back and I started out with the orange things, but it took too many of them and was too hard to pull up on them by myself since I have no spotter. (Also, I do not have levelers of any kind on my Class C.)

Now I carry 4 pieces of 2x10 cut in two foot lengths. I put two sideways under rear dual tires and it is very easy to drive on top of them. I can even see through my side mirrors if I point them down and in slightly. One goes on a front tire lengthways, if needed. You could probably make do with 3 boards.

Yes, they split and wear out, but are extremely cheap to replace. I think I spent $10 last time and Home Depot cut them into lengths free.

Love my orange levelers.

Yes and one of us splurged and bought a new set at the RV dealers when she picked up her new rig. :) I still need to sort through the ones that came back out of the sand in MX and ditch the old and/or broken ones. It is still worth it to have that story to tell. ANd the memory of the young wife holding the baby quietly telling us that as a matter of fact they did have Church's book and she had read her husband the section regarding getting out and checking before driving across the sand.... :?

I always used 2x10's cut into whatever length you need. Buy treated lumber, not raw pine. They will split eventually but they are cheap to replace. I drove off one time from my camp site in Rocky Mountain Park and forgot to pick them up. Needless to say, someone took them during the day while I was gone. I would have been really upset if I had lost expensive plastic blocks.

Used to use the orange "lego" levelers when I had my 30' Class C and needed a bunch of them due to duel wheels in the rear. Now with my Roadtrek don't have the storage so bought (Walmart) two graduated orange levelers; you can drive up to 1st level for just an inch or so or all the way to top level to get the most "rise". To me wood is heavy and rots if it gets wet.

I sure wish I had electric leveling jacks, but since I don't, I usually use the yellow ramp types found in RV stores - my new ones can go up 3 levels. I also have a set of the lego types, but having dual wheels on the back makes them hard to use. No matter what I use it's a tough job scrunching down to put them down, climbing back into the cab, pulling up on them,go check the fridge level, back outside to rearrange the levelers, etc. Seems I'm always down in back these days. Used to be much easier when it was the front that needed raising. Back in the Class A days before the auto-levelers (boy did I love those!) we had nice wooden ones that my DH put handles on the ends for easy removal and cut the ends on a slant like a ramp. Sad to say, they were too heavy and unwieldy for me to use.

I have the "Lego" blocks but often just use some 2x10" I cut up into 10" squares. Also have a piece or two of 1" board because sometimes that's all I need. I like to be level. I don't like to walk on unlevel floors.

I use the orange squares for under the scissor jacks and boards for leveling side to side under the tires. We have triple axles so that would be a heck of a lot of orange blocks & I can just toss the boards in the bed of the truck with the ones I have for under the tongue jack.
