Evening everyone...I have a question... I am leaving
for PA next Wed. I will be traveling up 95 from Melbourne Fl
not sure how far each day i will be able to travel due to the bad
veins in my legs..do know that i will have to stop often to walk around
anyway ..what i am asking you all ... i need to know some campgrounds
that you or someone you know ..have stopped at ...my route will be Melbourne
to rt. 26 just above Walterboro SC.. i might not even get out of FL the first day
so any help on places to stay would be appreciated..i am so ready to leave FL for
awhile...
thanks donna & maggie too ;)

Donna, we have stayed at Green Acres in Walterboro quite often. They have long, level sites and they also have a dog run. Another one of our stops is on 301 in Wilson NC called Kamper's Lodge. Have a safe trip home!

I'd go with WalkAbout Camp & RV Park, my favorite stop on I-95 heading north. It is about 200 miles north of Melbourne, across the stateline in GA. WalkAbout Camp & RV Park, 742 Old Still Road, Woodbine, GA 31569. This park near I-95 (take Exit 6 off I-95 when heading north and Exit 7 when driving south), but far enough away I did not hear any traffic. WalkAbout is a small family owned park with full hook-up, pull through sites, and a nice swimming pool. The sites are 30 amp or 50 amp -- must ask for what you need. The Passport America rate was $16.50 for 30 amp last March. The owners are a young Australian couple who live at the campground with their four young children.

Pecan Park RV, 650 Pecan Park Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218. This campground has about 200 paved, full-hook up, pull through sites. They are next to a free flea market. Passport America rate is $21 per night. Very easy access off I-95 (Exit 366). It is just north of the airport so there may be some airplane noise during the day.

A state park in South Carolina you may want to consider is Santee State Park, near I-95 and Hwy 26. I've never stayed there, but it is worth checking into because of the location. Santee is about 215 miles north of WalkAbout.

Hunting Island State Park is just north of Hilton Head, east of Beauford. Terrific place to stay, but at least 30 minutes east of I-95. Miss Mermaid mentioned Tuck in the Woods (Saint Helena, SC) in her GTG about Hunting Island. Check the distance from I-95 because I'm not sure if this park is close to I-95 or close to Hunting Island State Park.

Have been watching the responses here as I will be heading up to NC and TN on my way to OH in about 3 weeks. Have driven thru Atlanta many times without incident but this time I will be flying solo and, altho I know I could, I really don't want to so will be going up 95. Not really nervous or scared about traveling by myself, but know I will be more at ease after I get a couple trips under my belt. All of you ladies are a huge inspiration to me. Thank you.
