BBQ Pitmasters - KC champs

As mentioned in MC, here are a couple of links to videos about my nephews who have been on Destination America's show BBQ Pitmasters recently.
We didn't see too much of these two when they were young, but we're so proud of them & delighted to re-connect as they follow their passion.

Here's a video on the Destination America site:

And here's a link to their audition for the show:

They plan on opening a restaurant in June (just 9 minutes from my office!) & and yes, I will be bringing BBQ of some sort to the KS GTG in Sept. :D

Yummmm BBQ!!! Good luck to them, looks like they have their system down pat. I love going to the BBQ restaurants when I visit KC.

We are lucky to have the two 17th Street BBQ restaurants nearby. The owner Mike Mills is a three-time Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest (a.k.a. the Super Bowl of Swine) winner, and also opened Memphis Championship Barbecue in Las Vegas. They have a contest every year in Murphysboro, IL and contestants come from all over. The first few years they also had a huge street party and free samples were available from all the different contestants but they soon stopped that :(

Catherine, I have to tell you that my son thought the BBQ sauce I brought him from KC was the best yet. KC has a good thing going and I'm happy to hear that your nephews are carrying on the tradition. Enjoy today. Peggy

Ava, you'll love their sauce & rub... It's a little on the sweet side (but not too much) with a touch of a bite (not enough to bother anyone though). They definitely got this right! I got to taste their finished products yesterday. Everything was awesome! Can't wait to have taste tests at the KS GTG.

Yummm, sure looks good. Making me hungry. Reminds me of those Texans and their BBQ up north where I go during the holidays and was again at Easter. Actually it's the one guy who's the main cook and he does a bang up job. They will be leaving for home either end of this week or next, so next time I go up, no more BBQ :( But then I haul my own out :)
