Where's Liz? Fairbank and Tombstone

One a Ghost town, one a tourist town from the same era, just a few miles apart.

This pics really make me wonder about the people who lived & were buried there, what were their lives like, their hopes & dreams. What made them head out west. Are they remembered by anyone anymore - other than tourists who chance by...

Makes us realize how passing this life is - how temporary. Need to make every minute/opportunity count.

On a lighter note: Loved the straightforward sentiements on the grave markers. :D

Thanks for sharing these, catherine

Whoever wrote the tomb stones sure had a sense of "gallows humor".

I like twisted humor

Another interesting tour.
With all the "memory gardens" replacing traditional cemeteries future generations are not likely to have interesting old burial locations with neat grave markers to explore. Learned recently that typical markers for the MGs are only designed to last about 75years unless you opt for the much more expensive granite ones. Even then they are just the flat slabs.
The only major handicap in life is a bad attitude!
