Really would enjoy the hike (and did virtually speaking) and the pictographs. Thistle, I have found, is not much of a desert hiker...short is better.

that was a neat area...what were the grinding holes for...I'm assuming for grain but don't know

Since there is no Ranger out here at the ranch to explain thing about the grinding holes all I can add is that the ranger back at the Gila Cliff Dwelling said that they had tested residue from the smalls holes there. They found traces of corn and they also found traces of pigment color....possibly used for decorating the rocks or pottery or skins....
But the holes here were much larger.......
