Just wondering if anybody has ever had axles flipped on there trailers to raise the height up a bit more. My Sportsman rides low to the ground. The sewer connection won't even let me hook up my clear elbow that I put on to clean out the tanks after I drain them. Usually hook up a hose and flush them out. And my WD bars when everything is hooked up, are only about maybe 2 inches if even that off the ground. I consider that an unsafe thing. So the whole works is subject to possible scraping on inclines or steep drives etc.

So have been considering maybe having the axles flipped to raise it. Any thoughts, suggestions, experience etc. out there?

When I was married we had a 26' 5th wheel... My ex flipped the axles because we traveled a lot of mountain roads & State Parks where the roads were kind of rough. Worked out great. I think you would be way better off with the axles flipped considering the problems you're dealing with.....

From what I've read on RV.net it's a common thing to flip axles. Some of the new pickups have a higher bed height and flipping is required to get the 5er's to travel level. Shifts your center of gravity a couple inches higher but nothing major. Might need new steps or a little step stool.

Had to Google flipping axles. Not at all what picture came to my mind I didn't get my usual lesson from MelissaD

When we got out first tt, a Holiday Rambler, the previous owners had already flipped the axles because it rode so low. We never had any problems with it.

If I remember right, Laura flipped the axle on her first tt. Hopefully she'll see this & chime in.

Most axles can be flipped although I think there are brands out there where you have to use blocks to raise the trailer higher. Forest River makes a blocking kit for their RPOD. All their units for sale on the west coast already come with the kit installed.

We flipped ours on our first 5th wheel, but only to match the height of the truck so the trailer pulled flat to cause equal weight distribution. I think flipping just for the sake of raising a trail may transfer undue weight on the tow vehicle hitch.
