I have the Rand McNally 7720 LM which was expensive & nothing but trouble...put it back in the box for several months because it frustrated me so much & I didn't need it through the winter anyhow. Took it out yesterday & ran into sooo many problems still that I think I'll just send it back to them with a big lemon enclosed....it's just out of warranty so it's a near $400 loss....
So my question is, does anyone have any experience with the new Garmin 760 LMT? As my old Garmin was so marvelous I thought maybe I ought to look into this one because it's set up for RVs....it's $400 too.....seems to be the number most popular for the RV type units. Anyway, all suggestions are welcome.,,,,opinions too.....
Thanks in advance....

Char, I don't know about the Garmin, but love my 7720. I've had it for a year now. I had some trouble in the beginning, but now seem to understand it and love it. What was the problem you had with yours?

if I remember right, Ellen has that one too and she loves it. Maybe she'll see this and help you figure it out.

Don't give up on your Rand Mc yet. Know Liz has one and loves it. Maybe she can offer some help when she has Internet again or gets back from MX. Someone else on here - maybe Paulette??? - has one also. Hopefully she will chime in.

Also have the Rand McNally 7720 but haven't used it for several months. Never got to the point of it being easy to program and use so, like you Char, lost interest. Sandi loves hers though. I seem to have better luck with WAZE on my iPhone but use this more in the car- have only used WAZE in the RV a time or two. So far, very accurate.

Thanks for responding....So, let's see....the whole story is just too long, but I think I got a lemon straight from Rand McNally...When I first got it, it would do nothing... called & spoke to at least 3 Techies who could not help me... eventually a guy named Sam Palmer from Illinois called me.. Said he was one of the programmers & would help me. First off mine had some kind of commercial lock on it which should have been removed when it was ready to sell... he walked me through getting that off... then we went through a series of steps to make it work & to explain to me 'how' to make it work....(I had a Garmin Streetfinder for years prior till it finally wore out so was not used to the 'different' way Rand worked).. anyhow, I spent hours on the phone with this guy trying to get it set up & to get it to work properly.... finally after much practice & failure I tried calling him back again (by this time I had his personal cell #), but he did not respond nor did he respond to my e-mail (which I still have copies of)... that's when I just put it in the box & gave up.... I truly believe I have a lemon & should have sent it back to them last August but was too disgusted to think about it.... now, I'm planning on going to a rally & got the darn thing out thinking it would work cause I'm calmer now... well, it doesn't.. tried downloading the updates & the updated maps from Rand website ( thinking that might do the trick) , but after trying 6 times & having my computer lock up the last time, I unplugged it from my computer & am packing it up. I'm gonna call RN tomorrow & complain & use the packing slip it came with & send it back to them... period!!! That's why I'm asking about the Garmin one for RVs.... just thought with all the gals that travel that someone would have one & let me know if it's worth the $400 or if I should just give up......

It also does not send me down logging roads in Washington State like that poor couple I read about.

Sorry to hear you got a lemon! I have the 5510, which is the one they made specifically for RVs. I've had it a couple of years now and really like that it doesn't try to take me on roads that no rv should go on! Sounds like you have decided to just send it back, but I think for that money, I'd be raising enough stink that they replaced it. In my pea brain, all gps' have a learning curve to them...
Sorry I'm not much help...

Thought I would share this information. After posting last I was so frustrated that I just left the whole mess on my counter & ignored it. Was in a bad mood about the whole thing especially throwing $400 away. Anyhow, was calmer today & thought (being as they never answered my last e-mail), I'd call & make sure I had the correct return label so I could just get it gone & out of my sight (& mind !)... Called & ended up talking to a Tech who evidently looked back into all the contacts I'd had trying to make this lemon work, so he knew who I was. I mentioned that I'd spent a ton of time talking to Sam Palmer, etc.,etc. trying to get this one working & it still doesn't work. Well, guess what.... Tech said we'll send you a return package/label at no charge for the old one & we will send you a new GPS exactly the same as you have (not a returned one) at no charge with a 90 day warranty.... as we want our customers to be satisfied & happy with the product. I could not believe it.... I bought this one in Nov. of 2012 (& the Tech said he knew it was only 2 mos. out of warranty), but that was not a problem. Probably because he could see the long history of my complaints & problems.... So we shall see... said he'd send an e-mail within the next 24 hrs. to confirm everything. Again, we will see.... I did tell him I had more faith in my Rand McNally mapbook than the product (& we both laughed)... Will post if this really all happens but thought it interesting enough to share now......
By the way Paulette, you really did inspire me to pursue this mess with your last post.... I was really upset & your words gave me the 'push' I needed to tackle the job....thank you (and the back shelf in my closet and/or garbage can) thanks you as well.....

Good News! I sure hope this one doesn't have all the problems the first one had. There is just no way that was operator error, had to be a lemon from the start!

Surprise! I got the email with the return instructions, label, etc., a little while ago. Took a while to find a box & stuffing to keep it from moving around plus add all the stuff they wanted by way of paperwork.... so guess where that 'lemon' is as I post this..... yes, Postal Annex has it for a 4:30 pick up..... It is off my counter & I have made copies of everything, just in case. On the other hand, If nothing comes of all this, at least it's gone....
If I get another, well, we'll see if it works any better than the 'gone' one.... And I don't think it's all 'user error' as I've had computers for 30 + yrs. & my I Pad, IPhone, my old Garmin (really miss it)....so, if it was just about getting used to a different approach, I think I would have figured that out after all the time spent trying to make it work.... so we'll see... will follow up as in cross your fingers that this does work out & I haven't lost my initial $$$$$ cost.... Thanks all for your comments... much appreciated... now we'll see what happens next ... if anything.....
