I am trying to catch up. Most of the past days have been filled with traveling down long flat highways and trying to stay warm. I will get to the warm days eventually.

Those caves are really cool! The frost on the trees is so pretty! We get that here too sometimes. Looks like a winter wonderland postcard! :D

Hopefully you have found warmer weather by now! :D

It's been years since our visit to "the big hole in the ground"....and we did the natural entrance...of course the legs were only in their 30s then...don't know if I could now... ;) ....but I'd sure try... ;) Love the photos and your story ....can't wait for the next installment... ;)

Thanks for the cool pics... especially of 'Mitch posing'
I, too, contemplate those early settlers/travelers as I drive through barren areas of this beautiful country. We have it soooo easy.
Your post made me want to hit the open road soon - when time & temps allow. :D
Hope you find 'warm' days soon.

Wonderful pictures of Carlsbad Caverns. I'm so pleased you took time to go through them. I love to see all the caverns in the country. I even went "speluking" at Mt Rushmore with the rangers. I met a ranger who knew Nevada Barr. What a thrill just meeting someone who knew her!
One of Nevada Barr's books was about Lechuguilla Cavern. Of course, hers was a fictional story, but based on some very interesting facts about Lechuguilla. If you are interested I'll tell you all about Lechuguilla. Remember I used to do Elderhostels to learn all these tidbits. lyn

The total distance of the i-10 across the state of Texas is approx. 879 miles long, which requires an approx. driving time of 14 hours and 39 minutes to complete when driving an average speed of 60 miles per hour.

Yep that's a long day
