I got an email asking this and thought the responses might be interesting. Where were you when you heard President Kennedy had been assinated? We were talking about this at work one year, and of course a lot of my co-workers werent even born then! I was a junior in high school. A girl who had a car had been out to her car in the parking lot and heard it on the radio, came running into the restroom where I was and told us. I remember that day very clearly! Wendy

Wow - you're old...I thought you were younger than me.
I was walking back to school (5th grade) from home at lunchtime.

I was in a 7th grade English class. The teachers moved everyone to the school auditorium where we spent the rest of the day. It was frightening and several of the teachers were crying.
Remembering back even further, we had air raid drills when I was in elementary school while Kennedy was president. These were practice drills so we would know what to do if bombs were being dropped. The sirens would go off and we all had to go into the hallway and huddle next to the wall covering our heads. Of course, we thought Russia would be sending the missiles. Little did we know there were bombs 90 miles away in Cuba pointing right at us in Miami and the U.S. had Nike missile sites scattered across the Everglades National Park aimed at Cuba. Amazing none of them were ever launched.

I was in college. When my roommate and I got back to the dorm from lunch girls were running in the hall crying.
In high school we lived in Shreveport not far from the Air Force Base. My girl friend and I decided that if we got bombed we would ride our horses 60 miles South to a camp we knew of near Natchitoches. We weren't worried about our family, just our horses.

OK, I am REALLY old. I was in college, waiting in line for some health service shots of some sort. We all left the line, as I remember. I remember classes were cancelled for the rest of that day (Friday) and for the funeral on Monday. I watched it on TV with my friends.
I think this was the first time that they cancelled all usual TV programs for the whole day of the funeral, and possibly the entire weekend. That had never happened before.

I was in high school remember being in the hall between classes...don't know if someone told us or if it was announced over the speakers. Pres. Kennedy had been in our town a few weeks prior to his assassination...

Now I'm feeling really old. I was in the hospital and had just been taken back to my room when the news was announced. My daughter was born prematurely just before Kennedy was killed.
Did you know Kennedy assassination ranks as America's 2nd most remembered event in recent poll:

How many of the other ones in the article do you remember and do you know what was #1?

I'm sure in our parent's generation it would have been Pearl Harbor and the end of WWII. That list is influenced by how many people currently alive were around for those events.
