If any of you who are not currently Escapees are interested, they have a 50% off Facebook promotion running right now. Click on the link and then put my name in as the referral (and, no, I don't get anything).

Um. . . what does a person get for their fast $35.00?
I'm sure that all of you know, but I don't.
Thanks.

Darn! I just joined about 2 weeks ago and paid full price. <sigh> Check their site, Anne, to see what they're all about. It's escapees.com.

I'm with Anne.... besides the initial 1/2 price for the first year... what does that get you? Furthermore, I assume there are yearly fees and what can one expect those to be ? Anyone who knows, please post... haven't made up my mind to join yet & need more info.....

Char,
This is the yearly fee - so next year's membership would not be 1/2 price. Escapees have lots of good things - from the bootcamps (Red just attended one for her driving classes) to rv parks (their own at several locations around the country), a mail service, groups of like-minded individuals (a singles group, boomers group, etc) that meet up various places. At least one of their rv parks has an extended care area. A few have annual leases at good rates. All have excellent rates for members if you travel through those areas. Many places offer Escapees discount camping (at 15% off).
I didn't join for a long time and haven't used many amenities. But, they have many that are useful if you travel. Oh, they also have a magazine every other month. Etc etc.
I'm not saying everyone should be a member - it's a personal thing. But if anyone is considering it, this price for the first year is probably the best they'll ever see. (Now that I said that, they'll do something else cheaper lol).

For $10 or $12 extra, I paid for their "Days End Directory" of mostly free places to stop for a night, listed by states/towns. The best way to decide if someone thinks it's worth it is, like I said, check out their website. It's all there. Nothing hidden. I like that it's not a big corporate-sponsored outfit, but by RV'ers for RV'ers.

Thanks, Beth. It's definitely a good discount. We were members several years ago when we went west. Since we are going west in 2014 I'm go ing to join again. It seems more of their parks are out west. We stayed a week at The Ranch. People were very friendly. Like any RV membership, buy it if you know you will actually use it.

Thanks Beth... as usual, can count on you to know about this sort of topic. I don't travel all that much & stay pretty much in CA, NV & Oregon... so don't know if this is for me... will have to think about it... sure do appreciate your info though, so thanks again
