Had a couple of very different adventures here yesterday. Spent the morning in the beautiful red rock area at the west end of Vegas and then went to the Fremont Experience at night. http://lifeinbrowncounty.blogspot.com

Both downtown and the strip have a lot of neat stuff to see.

(Linda aka Bikerchik's avatar with her and Spiderman, was taken downtown LV while we were there).

I still love those red rocks! Can't get enough of them.

Love the red rock area!!! been there several times.was the stream or creek or river or what ever it is called running seems like it is a disappearing one..and has a lot to do with the moisture they have or haven't had ..did you go to the Christmas store? a neat place

Sheila, if you have ever been to the old downtown area, you have been to Fremont Street. It has been all revamped now with the new "roof" over the main street that shows videos and music, and has lots of entertainment on the sidewalks. That area was kind of dying out because of all the big, fancy new hotels on the strip, so they found a way to get people interested in going "downtown" again.

I saw the Fremont Christmas show maybe 20 years ago. Since I am planning to be in Vegas around Christmas, I will definitely be going back. Might end up renting a car. Definitely planning on Red Rock. Also going to Lake Mead and Valley of Fire State park. Any other suggestions since you seem to find such neat spots?

Can I ask where you camped?

We are camped on Boulder Highway near Desert Inn - in the Thousand Trails RV Park. There are 3 or 4 campgrounds along here - Sam's Town, Arizona Charlies and Roadrunner for a few.
If you get a chance take the Neon Boneyard tour very interesting. We didn't go but I understand the Mob Museum is pretty neat too. And be sure to go to the Bellagio to see the Christmas decorations. Enjoy.
