As some of you know, I posted a thread awhile back about a diagnosis I had gotten from an eye doctor in which he thought I might have Usher's Syndrome.

Well today I saw the other doctor that he referred me to and after the usual battery of eye drops, eye tests, picture and what all they do these days, this doctor came in and looked over everything and then proceeded to ask me a few questions about my eyes since I was a child etc. He also asked if my mom had been around cats when she was young. Don't know that. Said that I don't have Usher's Syndrome, so forget that. Only reason he asked about the cats was cause if my mom had an infection of any kind when I was born, that could be reason behind my vision and hearing issues all my life. Cats can transmit a disease to humans that can cause infections and if the mother has an infection when the baby is born, that can cause problems. He wasn't implying that was it, but said it was in the back of his mind and he was going to do a little research on it and let me know what he finds. But he said for all practical purposes, there's nothing wrong with my eyes other than what I have had all my life, so as far as he was concerned, nothing needs to be done and I am free to do whatever. Just come back in a year for a checkup that's all. Asked if I could go get my prescription filled for new glasses that the ophthalmologist was holding for me and he said to go right ahead. So next week off to get new glasses ordered. Needless to say, I'm estatic :D :D :D :D In the meantime I found out from a downstate cousin this evening that mom had told him she had measles or chickenpox, he couldn't remember which, when she was carrying mg me. That explains a lot right there.

Thanks for all your concerns, prayers and everything ladies. You are the greatest. Now to spend the winter planning the trip west to SD, CO and WY next summer if all goes well.

It is called toxoplasmosis. That is why we caution pregnant women about not cleaning the litter box.

Terrific news!! That will be one big thing off your worry list. Now you can get into planning big time!!

I don't think they were warning women about toxoplasmosis, chicken pox, or even measles, and a lot of other things when your mother was pregnant.
