Cougar vs Laredo Quality

I wasn't actually sure where to put this. I posted earlier about towing a Cougar - and with open ears I heard and decided to back down my options to a lighter camper. That being said, I am in the final stages of deciding between a Cougar or a Laredo. I've been in the Cougar, felt, touched, moved in it. But there aren't any Laredo dealerships near me. I believe the Laredo is a better fit for my budget, family and camping style (ie - we don't need the outside kitchen). But - how does it feel compared to the Cougar? Can anyone speak to this? Does the Laredo feel solid? Good construction, comfortable furniture?

Also - can anyone tell me how far the kingpin sticks out in front of the camper - is it about 8"?

Thank you!
-Leo

This probably comes under the heading "NMB" (not my business) because I don't own a TT. . . but. . . my suggestion (I have a lot of 'em! :D ) is to go and see one first (no matter how far away) take a good look. Leave your checkbook at home.

You might decide then and there it is/is not for you. . . then come back (without buying) and read all of the posts on the forum.

And then decide.

You might also ring up a couple of dealers. . . depending on how hungry they are, they might bring one for you to see; or maybe meet you half way with one in tow. Sounds unlikely I know, but a couple of years ago when I was looking for a new vehicle a couple of dealers in So. Cal. offered to deliver a car to me in No. Cal.

Didn't take them up on it, but there you are.

It was 12 years ago, but I turned my nose up at the Laredo due to poor construction. Not saying it couldn't have changed, but I wouldn't want to buy one without seeing it. Just my 2 cents.

This is probably a question to ask on RV.Net forum. There are probably more owners of these trailers there.

Hello,

I don't own a cougar or laredo travel trailer, but do own a 2010 Cougar 318SAB fifth wheel that I am very satisfied with. It is considered "midrange entry level" and fitted my budget well. The quality and construction was better than good for the midrange entry level.

There is a Keystone RV discussion forum. Here is the web address: www.keystonerv.org Look in the travel trailer discucssions, for some answers. Also, post a question.

Since Leo mentioned a kingpin, she has to be talking about a 5th wheel, not a travel trailer. I would also recommend going to the appropriate forums to hear what owners of the two brands have to say.
