Everyone survived boondocking 2 days in a NF, and boondocking tonight at Walmart.....a first for Sarah!

I never heard of the teeny weeny's but now I'm guessing "The Borrowers" was based on them and "The Borrowers" was a favorite story
every winter, usually sometime around Thanksgiving and before Christmas.

I could not remember the name of that town until you posted it. Last time I was there, I had to drive a van pulling a big cargo trailer down the hill outside of town on sheer ice. Very scary. Ex-husband and kids were on snowmobiles and I managed to slide down the hill safely, even making the turn at the bottom.
Nice campground. Was it a state park? Which reminds me:
The Song of Hiawatha
By the shores of Gitche Gumee,
By the shining Big-Sea-Water,
Stood the wigwam of Nokomis,
Daughter of the Moon, Nokomis.
Dark behind it rose the forest,
Rose the black and gloomy pine-trees,
Rose the firs with cones upon them;
Bright before it beat the water,
Beat the clear and sunny water,
Beat the shining Big-Sea-Water.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Me too!
There is a little harbor town on Lake Superior's northwest shore near Canada called Grand Marais, also. It is (was) a favorite stop for my mom and I when we stayed on the North Shore each summer. Lots of cute little shops and bakeries and cute little cabins and cottages, along with a lighthouse at the harbor. Those little towns have so much charm and character, as well as fascinating history!
Thanks for sharing!

We just drove through Grand Marais, although I had to stop at the diner for an ice cream cone. It was the 4th and everyone was in celebration mode.
