Not trying to scare anybody on here, but his accident happened about 37 miles south of here. I'm wondering if excessive speed may have been a factor, or maybe a flat tire or who knows. Such a shame.

Wow, nothing left of that trailer! Can't believe his wife survived that. What a tragic accident. They said the trailer started to sway back and forth before flipping. Isn't that what sway bars are for (to prevent that)?

unfortunately accidents happen but I NEVER watch these videos - only scares people and unless there is a lesson to be learned like keeping tires aired properly or using sway bars, I prefer not to see this stuff.

That's sad, but I want to know how fast was he traveling. Accidents do happen, but sometimes they could have been prevented, thankfully no other vehicle was involved

What we seldom remind people is that the reason may be they made a really poor choice..... Somewhere along the line.....

How horrible! The police will figure out the cause, but you should be able to feel anything going on in the back/trailer. When we used to haul horses, we could always tell when they were restless. We'd pull over ASAP to determine if they were in distress, etc. Such a shame.

It's unfortunate that we see these pictures posted but rarely hear the actual cause to learn the lesson.

On our trip back East this summer we were passed a few times by campers with improper set ups. Some were over loaded and others moving way to fast weaving in and out of traffic. Some needed WD hitches but had just a ball. More than once we would pass the overloaded trailer further down the road with blown tires.

Wish people would actually read the ratings of their vehicles and follow them. See many people pulling 5th wheels that exceed their trucks design. When I was an over the road truck trainer I would point out a vehicle doing something foolish and often we would find them later on the side of the road (not always right side up).

Not all accidents are driver error. I have found here in New Mexico that you can be driving along good as gold and suddenly be slammed with severe wind shear. A large vehicle can be blown out of their lane. Certain areas that are prone to tunnelling wind are posted with warning signs but it can happen anywhere.

I have also found that auto drivers do not realize what we can/cannot easily see or how quickly we can/cannot maneuver. One of the biggest issues I have is when I approach an on ramp on a highway, move to the center or left lane to allow easy egress. I make sure I've cleared the incoming vehicle and signal to move right when some hotshot behind me suddenly barrels up on my right to get around me. No patience! I am not a timid driver but I am a defensive driver who tries to keep a margin of safety.
