Once again I am looking for advice. I need to buy window coverings: about 63" x 31" for good coverage beyond the window frame. Of course what I want are custom, black-out, double-cell, cellular shades. Last I checked, two of those would run me a bit over $300 at blindsaver.com, which just isn't in the picture right now. (Yesterday I learned what engine work needs doing, so there goes any fancy schmancy decorating.) So, any advice about what to buy? What do you think of plain old black-out roller shades with tie downs, covered by some inexpensive curtain panels? Or the off-the-shelf cellular shades at Lowes? I like the idea of the insulation the cellular shades provide.

Look into these. I think they also sell them at Wally World. You could buy two panels of the longer length and cut them in half and do both windows.

For my van…I got a couple of the black out curtains at WM and cut them to shape the inside windows…then attached them with Velcro…I put the black side out..that made it look like it was just dark windows and kept the inside on the light side with the white facing in….I didn’t and don’t have a lot of dollars so I try to do things like this to save…then maybe later get something better…donna

Thanks to both of you. I'll go to WM tomorrow and have a look at what's in stock. If I get a double rod, I can put sheers under them for a little privacy during the day.

Do you sew? If so, I think the idea I posted quite awhile ago using quilts is the best I've ever seen for rv window covers - especially if you have any old quilts - or can pick any up at resale shops?

I had a friend who was making some for me - but didn't tell me the quilt I gave her had been ruined - so I got back really neat looking window treatments, however they were paper thin - But still love this idea.

The quilt idea would add warmth and also keep in the cool... good idea...

Thanks, Beth. I don't sew. I planned to try to sew on this project, but no $ for the equipment at this point. I'd have to ask for help, and I'm about up to my limit with asking for help if you know what I mean. Now it's quick and dirty and doing as much as I can on my own. I like the quilt idea; it just isn't for me right now.
