On the Road Day 3

Awoke to chilly, beautiful blue sky this morning. But before getting to day 3, here's a photo Carol took yesterday - what we will do for our fur babies when they need a grassy spot!

Back to today
After getting lost trying to get out of park this morning, we had good weather, flatter land and straighter roads for the long drive from southern tip to far northern IN. However to offset that good fortune, there were enough construction delays to slow us down. We are spending night just shy of 200 miles away from our first MI destination, Mt Pleasant.

Tho we passes many interesting buildings and farms beyond the 200 + miles of corn fields, no photos today - no good parking places near the interesting sites and too much traffic to stop in middle of road for pictures. Even more regretful was no place to pull in at numerous little roadside stands with wonderful looking fresh tomatoes, corn, etc.

After two failed attempts, we did finally find a place to get propane so I now have that first experience out of the way.
Oh, and Magic now has another problem issue. Not sure but think clogged intake water line and I have no idea how to resolve that. Discovered last night, no water. Another first: apparently in IN state parks there are no water hookups at sites - at least that was the case both last night and tonight. For now, I'm refilling a couple of jugs to use for flushing toilet and will buy drinking water when get to Mt Pleasant.

It has turned down right cold. This southern gal who just left 90+ temps in AL forgot it might not be the hottest tie of year in MI. I have 1 sweat shirt and 1 light sweater with me. If it doesn't warm up a bit, may have to do unexpected shopping.
Wasn't expecting a time zone change either.

All in all a good day and trip but Carol and I are both looking forward to a couple of days not driving.
Sorry but I'm going to have to wait 'till tomorrow night to catch up on forum posts.

I'm assuming you filled your fresh water tank. Can you hear your water pump running?

It took me a while to figure out that you have to let your water pump run a bit because it loses its "prime" if it has not been used for a while. One suggestion some of the ladies on this forum gave me was to turn on the pump and then open each tap for a few seconds or so and flush the toilet while it is running. There might be air in the pipes so it takes the pump a few minutes to get water to replace that air. In fact, it might take five minutes or more of letting it run. Might have to open and close each tap a couple of times while the pump is running.

Another tip: don't drive off with your water pump running and the taps open because it may start working and drain all your water into your grey tank!! (I did that once while I went in to get groceries.)

If you've got a pressure regulator on your hose, check that. They get easily clogged. You can take it off and see if things improve, but you need to be careful about not turning the hose bib on too high if it solves your problem.

Thanks for keeping us posted on your trip. It's fun to read about your escapades. :)

    Great pose Carol!

Glad you two are enjoying your trip north and unfortunately encountering some construction on the way, but it's summer and......

Yep, it's a bit cool in MI, but warmer air is coming in and by the time you get up here, it will be in the mid to upper 70's and even into 80's by Wed. I'm sure you will pass a number of farmer's roadside stands on the way north as well. We have a farmer's market here in Gaylord but it's on Wed and Sat., so you won't be here then unless you stay longer than planned. But there are other towns up here with them as well. I will go on Saturday and see what I can round up for our GTG. I'm not sure as yet if I will be camping over at the park or not. If I can throw off this cold, then I will be there. Otherwise it will be day visits. Keeping fingers crossed. There's a beautiful forecast coming up for the next 10 days.

As to the water line, do as Judy suggested and let the pump run, open faucets and let the air purge out. I have to do that with mine when I first start it up after it's been sitting there for a bit. In fact, do the closest faucet to the pump first and work your way back from there. Should do the trick.

Last night when I was on my iPad, the pic was upside down. Today, on my laptop, it's right. Can't explain it, I thought maybe it had been fixed.

And I thought she was doing some really creative maneuver for Nicky's sake.
