Donna, when I am busy working around here and doing things, after awhile, I get tired of it. So I take off. A lot of times it's just for the day. I go up to Mackinac City which is my favorite place to sit by the water and the bridge, sometimes it's just a drive to an area I haven't been too for awhile and then I come home all ready to tackle it again.
If I go camping, which I haven't been cause of no rig till now, I only went on two nighters cause of work. That's just enough to get away for a day or so and enjoy something different. And yes, I go by myself. Many times that's okay cause you can do what you want and go where you want.
The thing is to just get away from the work for a bit and get yourself refreshed so you can go back to it with a new outlook and hopefully energy. It sounds like you are at a point where you need a break. You have your upstairs done, so maybe it's time to disappear for a bit even if just for a day. Go for it. And yes, I don't go too far from home. 75 miles is about max unless I plan to camp in the U.P. then it's farther.

You've got some nice parks nearby. Did you get your Golden Age Pass? Sure, run away and camp for a couple of days. It's good for you.

Due to work most of our trips are leave Friday night back home Sunday afternoon. We only go about 70 miles to our favorite spot in Ohio. That way when work calls I can say "sorry but I'm out of state this weekend"
and then they leave me alone. Love the 3 day weekends.

My sister and I like to go to a lake that is about an hour from where she lives. She is still working so she likes to go on her 3 day weekends. My grandson is here until the end of August so guess we won't be camping until he leaves.

I just go by myself with my pooch (Butch). Once in a while, my daughter and grandson will go with, but they are very busy with other things in the summer. My favorite spot to go is only 30 miles from home. The campground is hard to get into so you have to reserve a spot months in advance. I had a spot reserved for two days last week, but the storms were so bad that I didn't go. I pay for them in advance, so they get their money if I go or not. I also have three days in August reserved for my favorite site. If I feel I want to get away, I can look online to see what spots are open and sneak out there for a night or two. I like to go during the week as it's not so busy out there. I have a map of the entire campground and have the best sites marked.
You won't know unless you give it a try, you might find that you enjoy it just like the rest of us even if it is only one day at a time. I know for me.... It's very relaxing and peaceful.

Since I work fulltime, the weekend trips are about the only time I can get out. I have a few parks that are within a couple hours drive of me. And I'm off every other Friday, so I try to schedule for those weekends so I have a little extra time.

I go for 5-6 nights at state parks on the WA and OR coasts. Usually go during the week to miss the crowds.

Hi Donna! I'd overlooked this post, & do want to add my two cents! DEFINITELY!
My favorite part of rving is waking in the morning & having that first cup of coffee in/near my rig, giving thanks that I have the opportunity to be so free! I've been known to drive 30-50 miles down the road, enjoy the drive or a nice park for the day, then sleep in a rest area/parking lot before I come home the next morning!

Except for week-long trips when using vacation time, our camping is Friday through Saturday jaunts. One favorite location is only 1-1/2 hours away. We drive into a long pull though site under 100 year old oaks, plug in the electric and run for the pool. The weekend is all about the pool and jacuzzi, riding bikes, camfires and relaxing. The Pinellas Trail crosses the campground entrance -- perfect for long walks or rides. We bicycle to a great diner for breakfast and have lunch at the pool for $4. The campground even has a launch for the kayak. Need to book another stay before the summer ends!

That sounds like the perfect weekend getaway!

They even had a guy we called McGyver who answered all our questions when we first bought the TT. Every time we had to figure something out, my sister and I would look at each other and say lets book another trip so McGyver can tell us what to do. Believe it or not, it's a KOA -- one of the few I enjoy. We try to only go there when BOGO is offered or in the summer when rates are cheaper. We paid $39 total for two nights with the BOGO! Have to be very careful about rates because some of the campgrounds in FL can be outrageously expensive in the winter.
