My current RV insurance expires in Sept. if I wish to renew, since I'm full time, it goes sky high. That's State Farm for ya - they've been awesome forever but full timers they say, pay the big bucks - I've looked at GEICO and Progressive. GEICO says they have a special office devoted to full timers?? Could some wisdom and recommendations come my way? thanks, Gretchen

Can't help as far as RVs are concerned but I have had Geico for my autos for many years and am very happy with them. The only time my rates increased was when I went to a newer vehicle.

Check AARP, The Hartford. Very reasonable rates for full timers.

Ditto about The Hartford (and Liz has experience with a claim with them) ... and the one above in the ad, Explorer - also good rates for full-timers.

I have a full-timer policy with GMAC, which is now National General Insurance. I have not yet had to make a claim, however.

One thing which did irritate me, however, was that they gave me higher rates because of a ticket I had in January 2011, and then raised them for an "accident" that involved my car back in 2012. Basically, I scraped a pole going into a car wash, and they counted it as if it were an "at-fault" real accident on the highway because I filed a claim with my old insurance company. I should have just paid for it myself. However, I have been told my rates will go down by 40% next May when these will go off my record.

My rates were still lower than State Farm and one other company I checked into, however, and they do have good coverage on my belongings.

Just curious, how much is full time ? FEMA is looking to hike the Flood insurance along the coast, might be cheaper to go full time and sell the house.

The rates will depend on the value and age of your RV, as well as the amount of liability you choose and the deductible you choose. Best to get a quote that fits your situation.

I'm insured with FARM BUREAU I have a used RV 2004 but full coverage along with my car and home. It cost me $139 for six months and I have Road coverage.

Since full time has some funny rules vs normal trailer policies you might look at Good Sam http://www.goodsamrvinsurance.com/ .

On a side note; I found their roadside assistance to be a better program than through my insurance company.
