i like the casting and the reeling in...lol but the hooking and de-hooking (?) kinda creeps me out. that said i have been working on getting over this. i was thinking how nice it would be to catch my own and then cook it! how much more primitive could i get!!

I travel with fishing poles, they are hanging from one of my window valances by velcro straps. For the longest time they rode in the shower and were always in the way. I wouldn't call myself much of a fisherman. I don't like to clean fish so am happy to just catch them and throw them back. But, fresh caught fish cooked at the lake are so much better than fish that has been frozen.

No fishing poles for me ... I just come along and watch others fish :)

I'm with you Eliza, I like the casting and reeling in especially if a nice fish on the end but I don't want to mess with it after that, plus I like to fish from a boat. I was spoiled by bass fishing for many years with a friend who always took the fish off for me. Since we fished for big bass I have to admit he didn't have to do the chore that often. I have an old wooden Fenwick (?) rod that comes apart, with a Zebco reel in Elsie. There is an embarrassing story and picture of me casting at Obey River GTG where the lure kept dropping at my feet instead of making it into the water. Seems like I had a screw loose in the reel. :D I also have a Fenwick HMG Graphite rod with an Ambassador 5500C reel that I got in the mid-80s.
One of the best meals I've ever had was fresh caught Crappie cooked outside in a very large cast iron skillet served along with hash brown potatoes with green pepper and onion mixed in, ummmm!!

I already have my fishing pole, and it will definitely be coming along with me when I get the rv. I have done well in fresh water, not so much with ocean fishing. I can clean what I catch and also have the iron skillet to do the cooking.

I loved fishing, growing up, the whole family would go together. Any time somebody caught a fish, my brother would put his in the exact spot! Now days we always carry at least 2 poles with us when we travel out of state. When we're camping in Louisiana, it's more like 3 or 4. Depending on where we're going, determines if we bring the salt water or fresh water stuff. I usually don't bother with my own pole anymore, I'm too busy with changing the hooks/weights/lures, baiting the hooks, casting it out, helping reel it in, taking the fish off, cleaning the fish, etc. But Ronnie loves to fish!

I love to fish and always take two rods with me. One for bobber fishing, and one for casting. I keep them in the camper when I'm on the road so I don't have to worry about Butch getting messed up in them. I can clean, and cook my own fish. Nothing better than fresh fish cooked outdoors for dinner. This is the WOPPER I caught the other night, maybe 5 inches long...lol but I had fun!

My sister and I usually go to Toledo Bend for the 4th but I'm leaving for Florida on the 7th to pick up my grandson. If the 4th isn't on a weekend no one seems to know when to do the fireworks show. If it's on a Friday or Saturday there are big fireworks over the lake. Next year will be a good time to go.
