what a lovely morning to take a hike at the nature preserve at Barr Lake State Park Colorado
they do guided nature hikes from the nature center
the old cottonwoods fall down all the time and they just leave them in their natural state
lots of these guys
whats that?
lets go check it out
do you see it?
how about now?
I see it, I see it.
one of the nature blinds and looking out the slits in the front we spot this guy...
turned around and headed back when we saw the boat dock area
couple more surprises on the way back.....
more deer
lots of wild oats for them to much on
this might be the same rookery we spotted from the nature blind but much closer from the trail itself
surprised this guy...and as he ran off....
on the other side of the trail was a bit of irrigation ditch, heard a little rustling in the water, turned and saw
this guy right there!
think he was feeding and we surprised him but he's got a big knot in his neck. He flew off quick.
and as we left, a group on horseback was getting ready to do the trail too. Horses and dogs...always to the right,
not allowed to go left into the deeper nature trail with lots and lots of boardwalks. The kind of had a hard time
getting the horses to cross that foot bridge but they made it with a little gentle encouragment and off they go.
