I'm finally on my way to TN and the Great Smoky Mountains!

Well, ladies, I haven't been on this forum for a while because I've been so busy getting a new RV! I'm so excited I can hardly see straight. I'm so happy I've gotten to meet some members near Austin, too.

I'm sorry, but I find posting pictures here to be more of a pain and takes too much time. Since I will be posting lots of pics and info on my blog, here are links to that if you want to follow along.

This tells a little about my new rolling home but I'm trying to find time to do a more detailed blog post about it: http://www.maliasmiles.com/blog/my-new-rolling-home/

And this was my sad first misadventure that all turned out fine in the end: http://www.maliasmiles.com/blog/kismets-first-misadventure/

And - finally - I'm now settled in my first overnighter RV park on my way to Tennessee where I'll spend the entire summer exploring the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. http://www.maliasmiles.com/blog/1st-leg-to-tennessee/

I know I keep in touch with a bunch of y'all now on Facebook and will try to remember to post links to blog here for those who don't do Facebook. You could also sign up to subscribe to blog posts by filling in Subscribe field on left column.

I hope you don't mind me doing it this way too much, but I'd really still like to keep in touch with the ladies in this group and maybe make a GTG or so somewhere down the road.

Here's hoping happy trails to us all!

Malia

I have been following your adventures on Facebook but thanks for thinking of those that don't wander over there. With blogs you only need to tell the story once for everyone and those that want to take the time to open links can and will and at least all will be thinking of you out there making your way along the road! :)

Thank you for remembering those of us who do NOT do FaceBook.

Don't know which way you plan to cross west to east TN but if you are traveling I-40 and want to avoid Nashville that is finally possible via recently opened southern bypass TN 840. It is only 20 miles extra and when I came across it for first time last Friday, the traffic was very light. Well worth it to me as I hate big city traffic on Interstate - all of them, not just Nashville.

Looking forward to following along on your trip.

Hey, ladies!

I appreciate the understanding about not being able to get on here as often as I'd like. I definitely find I'm more tired than I used to be after just 2 days on the road, plus trying to keep clients happy with work load, and keep up with blog. I had only planned for tonight to be 1 overnighter, but am going to rest another day before my next major stop at a great sounding state park in Mississippi.

Pamela - Yes, Alaska and Canada was my trip of a lifetime so far! I moved to Austin from New Orleans in 1971 and except for 3 years on Maui, I lived there until starting fulltiming in 2001. My daughter, granddaughter and 5 year old great grand-twins still live there, so I'm usually back there for holidays. Plan to be back in November so maybe we can arrange a meeting - that would be cool!

Redwahine - Thanks for the compliment and I'm glad we're FB friends now, too!

BirdyBird - Yes, I think this way will work and give me more time and less duplicate effort. I enjoy reading your posts, too, and happy kayaking!

Nasoosie - thanks for traveling with me! I promise to try to remember to post links here, but can't always guarantee it since I have chronic CRS. :) If you wouldn't mind subscribing to the blog there by filling in your email address in the Subscribe section on left column, you would be notified by email whenever I post update. Just in case I don't have time or forget to post here. :)

bluepinecones - I won't be going into Tennessee that way. Heading to Sevierville area to be close to the Great Smokies. But I will probably explore around Nashville some, probably closer to fall, becauuse I plan to come down via the Natchez Trace Parkway. I've heard that can be breathtaking when leaves start changing colors and I don't want to miss that! Thanks for the tip about the bypass. I've heard Nashville traffic can be dreadful.

Thanks again to you all!

I've at least started my blog posts about being in Tennessee, so here is link to that category on my blog. I sure am loving it here, y'all!

http://www.maliasmiles.com/blog/category/tennessee-trip-great-smokies/

And here is link to my more "formal" coverage of TN on my website:

http://www.maliasmiles.com/tennessee/tn-index.htm

You'll see links to the RV park where I am now along with things I intend to write about in the future to be linked. If anyone is around here and is up for a little GTG, that would be great - or if you have any tips on must-sees, I'd appreciate that.
