Trailer Repairs vs. Motorhome repairs

I was just reading CricketSail's thread about buying a used MH and what one can expect with a used one or for that matter even used, in the case of Judy's. And it got me to wondering. Are MH's more prone ot problems than TT's are. Seems like I'm always reading or talking to someone about MH's and there's problems with this or that, but I don't see that much with TT's. What's to opinions out there. I know we have members with both. And even pickup campers for that matter too.

Anybody ever heard of a cabover window being taken out and closed up so no leak problems up there? I know the newer ones don't even have windows up front in the cabovers much anymore

The only person I have read about taking the cabover window out is Tioga George and he had it done in Mexico. Some of the newer Class C's have molded fiberglass cabovers now. I wouldn't buy one of the ones with all the seams. I had 2 Class C's with the cabover areas and had to fight leaks in both of them. The motorhome I have now is a Coach House Platinum. It has a one piece fiberglass shell mounted on a cab like a Class C but doesn't have the cabover bed. It is 13 years old and no leaks yet. I think it is a lot better built than the 2 Class C's I had. My only complaint is that it doesn't have much storage. I couldn't afford a new one but wouldn't be afraid of buying another one used.

One of the reasons you hear about so many problems with motorhomes might be because we have all the problems with a house and a vehicle in one. I don't have any experience with a trailer but just from hearing about the problems with some there are some brands I wouldn't buy. It seems like the quality control at some places is non existent.

Well I'd say it's equal on anything not concerning engines, etc. And I know of several with tt or 5th wheels that have leaked. Laura here, for example who just replaced her tt because of leaking.

My cabover window has not leaked, but would have preferred not to have that front window. Until this year my leaks were do to the damage a gas station sign and my damaged awning caused. This last leak was caulking that needed to be replaced again. Unfortunately I didn't catch that spot in time.
