Here I am again. Is there any reason why I shouldn't use an electric blanket in the RV? Storing bulky bedding could be an issue and I need warmth at night. Thanks.

Good thinking to be asking! I hope there is no issue or I'm in trouble!! I also have a 12 volt throw that has come in handy when boondocking. Some choose to use heated mattress pads instead of the blanket.

OK! Looks like another Amazon order. Those guys are lovin' me right about now. I bought a gel/foam mattress topper at Costco, I think I'm gonna sleep like a baby. Olive will, too. I'll post pictures of the interior as soon as I finish decorating. Lots of fabric and glue and staples and pillows in my future. I think I'll be traveling in a bedroom with a kitchen and bathroom. Gotta love it! Just thought of another question: how do I hang pictures on the wall? Or is that just a bad idea? I'd love to have some of my art on board. Yeehaw! Nikki

I use the electric mattress pad, works better with my dogs otherwise they get all tangled in the blanket. Burned out
a blanket that way. But the mattress pad kept me toasty warm since the bed in the fifthwheel was over the hitch,
it seemed like I was colder when the wind blew and the outside temps were chilly. I love my electric mattress pad.

I have also always avoided electric blanket at home or in the rig because of my cats and dogs... Now the mattress pad....might have to think about that one. Sounds as if it is made to be covered up. I have always been afraid of electrical shorts and fire possibilities....

Already ordered the elec blanket, but can always return it. My little bit of research shows that heated mattress pad is OK on top of foam topper. Olive won't get tangled in the blanket. She sleeps on top of the covers even when it's cold. That's south Texas cold, not Minnesota-in-January cold. It'll be a cold day in Minn when you find me north in the winter. Good to know I'm not a PITA, but give me time. I aspire to greatness in all things.

I have always loved down, and I have a medium warmth and a lightweight down comforters under my bed. Mostly, however, I use a small down throw that my kids got me a few years ago. It keeps me warm no matter how cold, and I spend most nights "throwing" in on and off depending on whether I am having hot flashes that night!!

Big advantage of down is that no electricity is needed.

Ever since I went through the change I spend my life trying to stay cool. The only heated blanket I ever had (Many, many, many years ago) turned itself off if something was on top of it - read "dog" so I never could stay warm. My current furbabies both sleep under the covers - keeps me toasty.

I had forgotten why I avoided the heated mattress pad - stories were that with the foam sleep topper, that wasn't a good idea.

I should keep my mouth shut, lol, as I HATE electric blankets, etc. They make me too hot. I can't use down (allergies) but love the hypo-allergenic stuff. I require very light weight on me when I sleep, so can't deal with anything heavy. And I like it cold when I sleep ... but like it warm when I get up ... which is why I can boondock in the really cold weather without my heat until shortly before I get up. I love sleeping with it cool inside. Sleep best that way.

Nikki...First off, it tickles me that you and I both say Yee Hawww!!! Next...I have an electric blanket under my mattress pad and on top of my memory foam topper. I never knew there was a problem and it has got me through the winter without the initial cold sheet shock Brutus loves that, too [b]I turn it on when I start to get ready for bed and turn it off after I get in bed. I don't like it too warm when I'm sleeping and have never thought it was good to sleep so close to electricity since our bodies are so electrical. Sometimes makes my ears ring.[/b]
