Hi everyone,
On another thread, someone mentioned using a space heater. Is there any type that is better than others? What should I consider before I buy one. I already have one of those satellite dish looking things they sold at Costco a couple years ago. It has the cone in the middle. It's the only one I've ever used, so I don't know what else to consider. I'm in a 22 ft Touring Cruiser. Thanks for any suggestions.

I have a 26' trailer and use a small, inexpensive ceramic heater that I got at Wally World. Works well, even on cold nights.

X2 on the small, inexpensive ceramic heater. I have one with an adjustable thermostat and it works well. Not sure how low of temps I've use it in though.

Thank you for the new info. I think the key is to find something small with a thermostat. The one I have isn't small. I'll keep looking.

I found one (WallyWorld, I think) that has a thermostat AND a remote! Love it for when those night sweats hit!

Having a similar unit as yours, you are right. It does not take much to keep warm...at least until you drop down into the teens and/or have a strong wind that sucks the heat out of every small crack...... (I also recommend insulated curtains for the windows to add an extra barrier. It makes it seem a little like a cave in cold weather but a warmer cave than uncovered windows.

This past trip I gave up the small cube heater for a slightly larger but silent heater. I started using a small oil filled electric radiator.....it looks like s small white radiator and is electric. It heats up the oil and then radiates the heat out. It seems to have a more even heating effect and I don't have the sound of the blower all night/day. It gets very warm to touch but not so much that it bothers me or has burned me if I bump it or have to move it. It sits out in front of my kitchen area but gives me and the dogs plenty of room to go in or out the door. The dogs ignore it and since I don't spend a huge amount of time in my small kitchen area, it works for me.

I like that it's quiet but it looks to take up some space. How hot to the touch does it get?

It is the same unit that I had used back in my office area near my desk all the inter before, so I knew ahead of time that I liked it. It is hot to the touch but I have never gotten blisters or felt that something was going to burst into flames as a result of a casual contact. As in all heating units, they require some space between them and the near by environment..... Again the comfort of the steady heat and quiet is worth the extra space to me.....

For my rig I have the smallest size cube heater that Walmart carries; just an on and off switch. It does a great job and takes up next to nothing in my limited real estate. Oh course, I only use it if I have electrical hook up.

I have the oil filled radiator style..small and works perfect for the rv.

but I didn't buy it at sears and paid half the price of that one, but it is identical to mine.

I find it too bulky to keep in there when we're traveling so I got this: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Lasko-Digital ... k/21268167 because you can set it at a certain temp. & it comes on & off or you can just put it on high.

next time I get one though, I'm going to get one of these, but I wish it wasn't so expensive.

We have a DeLonghi ceramic Eco. Not big but does the job. Very lightweight, swivels and you can set the temperature. Have no idea where we got it or the price carold

The Optimus is a great size. Might look into that. The little ceramic one I have is way too noisey.

I really like the idea of the mini, but you're right, very pricey.
