I Finally Ordered My Kayak!!!

I'm so excited! After spending about a month online checking out different brands and models, I kept coming back to my original choice. I'm getting an Advanced Elements AdvancedFrame inflatable kayak, 10'5" in length, 36 lbs. They have a Sport version that's 10lbs. lighter, but the opening to get in is larger in that one and I preferred the smaller. In addition, the one I chose has a zipper on the top you can unzip if you want a larger opening. The Advanced Elements office is only 33 miles from me so I went there to see the different models in person. I was able to sit in them and also see how heavy they are to carry. The people were very helpful with information and tips.

I decided to do my order through Amazon because they had the best prices and free shipping with Prime. Also got a paddle, pump, dry bag, and vest. Yay!!

And one more gets a great water toy. Congrats.
Seems so many kayaks have been sold via word of mouth on the forum you'd think sellers should offer WomenRV members a discount.

Congratulations. you'll love kayaking. Inflatable kayak is on my list :P Specially now that RED has an air compressor (for the air ride suspension) that I can easily use to fill any inflatable item....and any friend's as well

Edit....after reading Beth's Comment below, probably won't use air compressor

Congrats Sandi. It was wonderful that the home office was close enough so that you could see and lift and get in and out of different models. It does make all the difference when you plan on spending money of a bigger purchase like this....

I am waiting to hear and see pictures from the other Sandy, the one here in FL. I would love to see the Sea Eagle model that she ordered up close and personal. I think Sandy's is going to be the "somewhere in the middle" model between the two that I currently own.

Again, congratulations.

Thanks Tina. I imagine you can tell I'm excited about my purchase. I especially liked the Advanced Elements model because it's about 3 feet shorter than the Sea Eagle. I appreciate the information you provided when I was pestering everyone asking questions about kayaks.

Be very careful ... most of them say not to use air compressors ... and they are not needed to fill. I am a strong believer in the hand pump over the foot pump though. Although both work.

Also, all the recommendations I read said it's best to have a hand pump with a gauge.

Yaaay. I'm with you. I need to put hands on my boats to see how they fit and how heavy, etc.

My sisters and daughters purchased a beautiful fiberglass kayak for me with all the accoutrements several years ago. Of course, I could not take it with me but used to enjoy the serenity of floating on Sarasota's waters and cruising through the mangrove tunnels. Still thinking about adding an inflatable but my storage is limited outside. I have one larger cubby but all the others are small. Now that I anticipate getting back on the road in May, I have been going through inside storage and winnowing down so will have to do the same for my outside cubbies.
