Private page for instructions to private pages?

I just realized there is no "private room" on this forum, so how do I post instructions on how to access the private pages (including maps and directions to my house in the Adirondacks for the Ruckus this year) on my website? I don't wish any "guests" or just visitors to see those instructions. Beth might be able to tell me how to do this?

How about sending it to interested people via pm?

Just curious, Beth. Is there such a thing as a private forum as it seems I can visit/read many on the web, just can't reply without a membership.

VERY VERY tedious to send PMs to all on this forum, as it would be nice for all members to be able to read my private website pages so they could decide if they wanted to come, or not. I will have to think about this. Anyone who wishes to join ORS can access that private room over there and get the info on how to get into my private website pages. (I think, anyway, unless stuff has changed over there. I will go take a look.)

Not everyone can join ors. My thoughts were that only the directions were private, so only those showing interest would need a pm. If the entire website is private, then I can't help.

When I asked where it would be held I didn't mean specific directions. I just wanted to know what town it is near so I could look at a map and see how it would fit in the travel plans. When the time gets closer, you can then either PM or email the specific directions.

Type the PM in one time, but send it to multiple people. Or, just keep forwarding the same PM when someone asks. Another option is to ask everyone to PM you their email address. Then, you can send one email to everyone with the directions. I can help you set up a free email account if you don't have one and show you how to use it. Much easier than the PM's.

North of Lake Placid by a bit. In the Adirondacks. (I could give a closer town, but not sure if Soos wants that done, so hopefully this helps.)

I don't want the public in general (and the public can read this forum) to have any idea where my place is. Four of my website pages are designated as private, but with the new site and rules, I am not even sure if they can be protected so that just the members who wish to read those pages can enter a password (or answer a question) can enter them. I had to type in a question that "special members" would be asked, but nowhere could I type the answer I would expect! I cannot figure that out. I suspect they expect me to pay to upgrade to enable that aspect of my website, but I got so frusrated trying to figure things out I just gave up. All I can say is, someone needs to try to get into those pages and then let me know how they were able (if they did) to get in. I can't do it as I am the owner of the site and it knows it.No way in he%% will I PM everybody-----I barely have enough patience to read all the posts on here every day, let alone PM anything! If I can't figure out how to manage my webpages, I may just try to find another web service, if I can find one for free. I did so much work amassing all the info and instructions and directions on that site, however, that I will be furious if I have to try to do that all over again. Also, some neat pics of Ruckuses in the past are on there on a private page, and those would be lost as well.

As there is no place for me to enter a password now, the private room of ORS is also useless as there is nothing I can type in there.

Someone could try this link and tell me if you can get into all the pages, including the private ones.

http://nasus.webs.com/

The music I used to have on there seems to no longer work, and I will continue to try to get that back.

Soos, I clicked on maps and directions on your website. I had to fill out a form to become a member. I did and then clicked on the link in the confirmation email. My membership now says "pending approval". It looks like your website is still private based on this.

OKY DOKY! Glad to know I still have to approve of members to give access to those protected pages on my website! I believe I have now approved of all who have applied to become members! You should all be able to access all the pages on the site!

Yes, there is. There are forums you can't read without a password and membership. Then there are those that you can read but not post (like this one) which is very important if we want the forum to grow. Most people come and look before they join. And it's all the people constantly joining that keep the forum fresh and lively. I think one of my favorite things about gtg's are meeting new people - sometimes brand spanking new to both the forum and rving.

That said, there are times when things shouldn't be said except privately ... and having that privacy can be important. Just like we tell people not to post phone numbers or home addresses ... and why when I'm traveling and doing my blog (which is public) I don't usually post where I am, especially when boondocking, until I leave that spot. Not true when I'm somewhere for a season, etc ...

And, yes, we could have a private room within the forum. Soos mentioned that because there is such a room on ORS. It hardly ever is used and requires sending each and every member (via pm, which Soos says is tedious for a dozen or so) a password. AND, if you think it gets compromised, or people leave, etc, so you want to change it ... guess what ... necessary to do it all over again. So, I've opted, for now, not to have such a room here.

Soos,
Nice site... the music is working now. I tried each page, but couldn't get to any (except the home page) without logging in. I won't be able to make the GTG this year, but registered for your site. Would love to keep up with what's happening. Btw, love the background :D
