Many long years ago when we drove our motorhome to Argentina we had a really exciting time. Talking about bad roads brought this to mind going down the eastern side of the Andes on a very narrow gravel road and meeting a bus coming up you might enjoy reading about it it is funny now http://www.movingon1.com/argentinamountain1.html

Wow! I for one, wouldn't have stayed in the RV OR the bus, but stood a good ways away until it was done. Yikes!

OMG!!!!! I would have had a heart attack on the spot. I HATE big dropoffs in my car let alone my rig. Was driving a mountain road with big drop off and looked at my friend who was leaning way over towards me. Like that was going to balance us right?

On that trip we all did a lot of leaning over and holding our breaths. All to help The Driver. One place we had to cross a wooden bridge that had holes in it. The motorhome would hit a hole and lean over then straighten up until it hit the next hole and leaned the other way. One time in Peru there was so much sand on the road it was like driving on moving ice. Very little bothers me now. Well I take that back, the bridge yesterday bothered me.

I read the whole story of your trip to Argentina from beginning to end, during the summer and enjoyed it very much. In fact I would only read a little every day to stretch it out! For those of you who haven't read the entire adventure I recommend it highly. I still wonder how you lived through it all Carol your guardian angels must have needed a long rest after that trip!

Very well written too. It was like watching a video in my head. I'll bet you've replayed it a few times yourself.

This is too eerie, but I got an email today from a friend in Alaska who said that he heard that my old Alaskan neighbor was driving his motorhome from Alaska to Arizona and went off the road near Whitehorse and rolled it. He was in the hospital for awhile but did eventually make it to Arizona. He heard this from the guy's X wife.

Carol, I trembled as I read your post. You are such a wonderful writer, you made my hands sweat!

I love your reference to The Driver as though to a deity. LOL!
