Your wonderful spirit will help you through this, and so many of us are sending prayers and good wishes. You are not alone, and I am sending good thoughts even though I have never met you. Woman power is strong!

Vickie, you won this round (although Mitch is never going to accept that).

Coming in late with this. It's such a personal decision about reconstruction immediately, later or never. After talking with quite a few women and my dr., I decided to wait until after my chemo sessions. Didn't like how I looked but was glad I waited. It would have been too much for me to do all three at the same time. You make a decision and then go with it. Ps, having friends around to give support and help is a blessing...don't turn it down.

Mitch, don't turn down any help. Are you going to have chemo after the surgery? That might change your mind about help. And, Abby isn't going to stand for being locked in the bathroom is she? I might even have to drive there from SoCal if you continue being so stubborn. My cosy camper will be all packed when I get home from Oregon.
Long, long story short. My Mother wanted to be independent so got a doctor "on the bus line". Then she was to sick to ride the bus, so I had to go way, way out of my way to get her to the doctor.
Let people who want to help, help. It makes us feel good. lyn

Yep, I could be there too from Northern California. I'll drive straight through. Me thinks you would be wise to accept Vickie's offer or you might have a VERY large crowd there all wanting to empty the bed pan. :D

You guys are all too kind. I'm going to be fine.

I know absolutely nothing more. I'm just sitting around, waiting to hear from the surgeon's office. WAIT WAIT WAIT. I hate that. I just want these little traitors gone! I am sure hoping I won't need chemo. But I was hoping I didn't have cancer, too, and look how that turned out!

I am leaning toward reconstruction - don't know what "sizes" they come in, but I just want an Itty-Bitty-Titty.

Mitch -

You have all of the right stuff to get through this just fine - Lots of prayers, a positive attitude and lots of support!!

And with this group, you definitely have a plethora of prayers and support and how could anyone not have a positive attitude with this strong group of women!!!

Break out the wine also!!!

If you have some extra flab hanging around somewhere else, I think they can now do some reconstructions without an implant. I would have plenty available if they had to do that to me. Would get a tummy tuck at the same time! Then I would have to buy new clothes to fit my svelt new figure.

But if you don't, I am sure the regular implants are better than they were years ago. Have you talked to your surgeon about consulting with a plastic surgeon before your mastectomy?

The surgeon is a General and Cosmetic surgeon. A friend of mine had her breasts reconstructed with tummy fat and she said it was a pretty bad recovery. He mentioned implants, so I don't know why.

Believe me, I have plenty of flab!!! Got enough if anyone else needs some...
