Sheila could you park the 5er in Q and maybe get a van for travelling?
Any day spent in the company of my animals is a good day.

How about maybe just selling the 5er and getting a MH, use that to live in like so many others do theirs and then you can go when and where you want. If you get a park model in Q, just one more thing to have to worry about upkeep on etc. Or maybe go ahead and get the park model, leave the 5er up in ID and like Kathy suggested, get a van for traveling around.

because I owe more on the 5th wheel then I can get out of it I don't want to sell it i can park it down there year round in some of the parks
the one I want to be in due to lots of friends there doesn't have any free space for a 5th wheel so if I went in there would pretty much have to buy a
park model or trailer ....others probably would have open spaces I still would rather be out in the desert something about it still draws me ...
as to a van where I will be at my dd's for the majority of the summer time me personally would rather more space than a van gives...also from what I hear
they can be really expensive...have time to sort it out in my mind research and see what will best

Whew, what a day!

This was going to be our big trip to Disneyland, with my daughter-in-law's mother staying with me in my motorhome, and my son driving his trailer. The plan was for the kids to ride with me, so they spent the night the day before. Yesterday, the grandkids and I left Napa early in the morning, picked up the other grandma partway on our way to Bakersfield. We made it to the RV park in Bakersfield in the afternoon, before the parents arrived. Kids swam and then we all had dinner and some company. All went to bed.

The plan was to drive the rest of the way to Anaheim this morning, but in the middle of the night, my son had severe abdominal pains so drove himself to hospital emergency room at 1:00 a.m. They did tests and diagnosed him with pancreatitis. Mid-afternoon, they decided he needed to stay several days, so he was admitted but they had no rooms so he is still in emergency room. I just got back from visiting him.

The other grandma rented a car this afternoon and took the kids back to her home, where they will stay until dad gets better and can drive trailer back home. I cancelled our RV park reservations in Anaheim, and will stay here with daughter-in-law next door until at least Friday. He is hoping they release him in two days. We shall see. Anyway, at least we have our RVs to stay in for the meantime. Kids were really upset to cancel Disneyland, but we will go back in March for spring break.

Judy, it might be for the better that your Disneyland trip got postponed. We're in for a TON of rain, beginning tonight. You're going to have to watch the weather, as it's highly likely that the Grapevine will end up getting shut down at some point this week due to snow.

Give me a call when you make it down this way. It'd be fun to see you again. :)

Laura, my daughter-in-law has warned me about the grapevine. I still need to get to San Juan Capistrano on Friday. If I can't go that way, how should I get there from Bakersfield?

Should I go through Tehachapi and Mohave and then through Lancaster and Palmdale to I-15?? That is a lot longer, but I want to be safe.

Thanks

So sorry about your son and the canceled plans, but glad you found out before you got to Disney. As you said, those plans can be postponed. Glad you have a safe place to stay.

Judy, I'd go over to Lost Hills (Hwy. 46?) which is a little bit north of where you are right now, and take that west to Paso Robles. There will be no chance of snow along that way. Going through Lancaster and I-15 is still potentially problematic. Paso Robles is on Hwy. 101, and from there it's a nice, but long drive down 101 to where you can meet up with I-5 in the greater L.A. area. Traffic will be busy, but manageable. If you don't want to go the whole distance in a day (probably about 6 hour drive), you can stay at Flying Flags in Buellton. It's pricey, but has everything you need. From there you're probably 2-3 hours from Capistrano.

Give me a call if you want to talk about it. Just remember I'm teaching & don't get home until after 4:00.

Just read about your son...that is a shame, however, Laura is right about the rain!!! She is also right about the route to drive to get down to San Juan Capistrano!! You may call me too if you need any further advice. Remember, Santa Fe RV park is a passport america park and near me. lyn
