Just checking in. We are now in Mazatlan where the weather is warm and the ribs are delicious. Wrote a short blog about todays trip and dinner. Picture of Bill's ribs is unbelievable. Leftovers any one?

I got a call Monday night that my sister was in an ER in Lake Charles with bad abdominal pain and her blood pressure was going up and down. I called our ex-sister-in-law to see if she could go see what was going on. They finally got around to doing a CAT scan around mid-night and said she has pancreatis. I'm glad she went to a different hospital than the one she has been going to. She has had the same symptoms since the first week of October when we were camping and probably before that. I hope they got it right this time. Some of the medicine the two doctors she has been seeing have prescribed cause pancreatis. I headed over there yesterday. They said they were letting her go this morning so I told her I would bring her home. I didn't know it was going to take all day to get released. The doctor at the hospital told her that she needed to quit smoking and lose weight. As soon as we get out of the hospital what does she want to do, smoke a cigarette and go get a meat ball sandwich from a pizza place. We got to her house after 6:00 and it was dark. I know better than to travel at night but I had enough and wanted to come home. I could tell that it had rained earlier but thank goodness it didn't get foggy.

I don't have much faith in the hospitals around here. They wouldn't let her eat all day Tuesday until supper and then they brought her a tray of broth and jello. Thirty minutes later they bring her a regular meal. For breakfast and lunch yesterday it was back to liquid. It's like one hand doesn't know what the other one is doing. I wasn't in the room when they brought the discharge papers so I don't know what they told her. I'm sure they probably gave her diet restrictions. There is plenty of information on the internet but she is not going to diet unless she is too sick to eat. Hopefully she will think about how much it hurt when she had to go to the ER.

I'm really happy to hear the 5th wheel got transported and hopefully winterized and will be waiting for you in the spring. Enjoy your winter with family.

A pretty good friend and her husband recently bought a class c. When I went over to see about watching her dogs for her they showed it to me. I sure wish they'd asked me to go with them to look at it. Not that I'm any expert about motorhomes, but I looked at so many I could have told them what to look for, and that this one was way overpriced. They paid about 3 times what it's worth and it's not in good shape. They aren't the types to fix up and redo things. I hate it when a friend gets taken by someone selling them a piece of junk. So I kept my opinions to myself and said it would certainly have plenty of room for them to take their dogs with them. That was about the only nice thing I could say about it. #*&%! cheater sellers! GRRRRR!!!! I can't post this on FB, don't want to hurt her feelings so I'm putting it here because she's not a member.

That is what scared me from buying "used" when I first started. I had read and researched but knew I didn't really know enough. I thought I would be "safer" out on the road with a newer product. Little did I understand then what little things could go wrong regardless of vehicle age. :? When I headed out to replace "The Short Bus" I was actually looking for a lovingly used Class C. It was walking back towards the building that Sharon and I saw the Vegas sitting there and so we can just say it was all her fault after I saw the floor plan. :D I spent another 3 months back in Ohio trying to find another rig new or used that I liked as well. I would now be very comfortable buying used. And I would also not hesitate to ask any RVers that I know to give me opinions but then if you have never been part of the RV world you may not realize how willing most RVers are to help, "give opinions", and share experiences. :)

I knew I would buy used and was terrifically lucky when Angel fell into my lap-literally. I'm just so mad that my friends got taken by this unscrupulous seller. They knew I had been looking for quite a while, this friend even went with me to look so she should have had known what a "bad one" looked like. Well, since her DH is currently home and can't work because he's disabled, it may be they bought it for him to "tinker" with and give him something he can do. But it still ticks me off they got taken.

Kathy, I have had to bite my tongue about some of the RV's I have seen people buy. If you can't say something nice you might as well not say anything. Two of the groups I camp with have a lot of the vintage trailers. Don't buy a 50 year old trailer that you have to pay someone to work on. They get them fixed up nice but pay 3 times what a newer trailer costs. And most of them don't have bathrooms. I saw a new vintage looking trailer at an RV show and I could tell that it was a piece of crap too. One lady bought one and has already sold it because it was falling apart. I would rather buy one of the higher end RV's used than a brand new one from some of the manufactures.

I need to buy a new to me truck not even going to look until sometime in the summer/early fall...but it scares me to death...DH always did that stuff
I've never since I was in college bought a car or truck ...I went with him but have no idea what to look for pro or con other than I know some of what I want
and even that I could be swayed on I'm so easy in some ways to sway!!! have even thought that I would like a smaller motor home that I could perhaps travel more in but I want the 5th wheel in AZ for the winter...so then I wonder about some of the logistics of that...think that it probably will be a truck and work the rest out later....
I also hate it when people get taken

Sheila, I could "borrow" you my friend Karen. When she went with me to buy my new car, she was awesome! That girl is fearless in facing down car salesmen!

I have that vision too. I would like more room but mine is so easy to drive and park.

Sheila, about the only thing I know about used trucks is the 2006 Ford F-350 Diesel we had. It started give us trouble at about 120,000 miles and we couldn't afford to keep it running. I have seen posts on RV Tips where other people have had problems with that truck too. When you find one you are thinking about buying ask for reviews on Facebook.
