JudyJB, June is always a bad mosquito month in northern MI and especially the U.P. In the areas where the swamps are. Taqahmenon being one. I've been sitting on my porch in the evening sand haven't had any except maybe a stray one now and then.

Glad to hear that, Sue. I was out and about here on Thursday and got bit on my right leg and neck by some big horse flies. Now I have painful and itchy red welts! :(

Makes me not want to go outside. (No wonder I have a vitamin D deficiency!) Last night I kept putting on my prescription stuff, but they were still stinging and itchy. One on my neck is better, so hoping the others are better by tonight. There are definitely some good things about the western states not having so many bugs.

Almost back in Michigan! :) Only about a hundred miles to travel tomorrow to Sault St. Marie and my campground. Lousy internet here so I will leave fairly early so I can use my own hotspot and use up some of my data. I am getting very frustrated with campgrounds that offer "free" internet. Sometimes, that means only 30 minutes free and the rest you pay for. IN this campground, it only seems to work on the patio of the office, but I was able to log in and now have carefully moved everything to my RV and it is VERY slow but working for now, at least. Got to ask a lot more questions in the future when I travel to Canada because internet is so important to me. Not having reliable internet is one thing that has always kept me from traveling to Canada.

One other thing I have noticed is that the quality of campgrounds, at least the ones I have found, are not what I expected, especially for the price. Most seem to be filled (70-80%) also with seasonal locals who come out for weekends to use the pool or lake or whatever. Not my idea of a vacation, I guess, parked bumper to bumper with other people in the same spot all year.

Still recovering from my huge fly bites, which I have been told are deer fly bites. One is a full inch in diameter and beet red, but they are not as sore as they were yesterday when it hurt to lay on my side because the bites were rubbing on the sheet. To add to my misery, I think I passed a kidney stone today. Been dosing myself with pain pills and drinking tons of water, but the telltale dark brown urine and pain that suddenly disappeared are symptoms. So, having had dinner and being a bit woozy from the pain pills, I am now enjoying the last of my Mackinac Island chocolate pecan fudge. Will need to stop in Mackinaw City next Friday for a resupply on my way south! (Much better even than wine!)

I made it back from the lake with my sister yesterday afternoon. We like to go to the lake for the 4th to watch the fireworks. Weather wise and fishing wise it wasn't the best weekend. The wind was so strong Thursday and Friday there were white caps on the lake. Saturday we had a school wide reunion that wasn't very well attended. They have one every 5 years and this was the least number of people attending that I can remember. Saturday afternoon about 4:30 a storm blew through and we lost electricity. The fireworks went on as usual at dark but it was raining a little off and on. We had to sit with umbrellas to watch. Probably not the smartest idea, sitting in the rain holding a metal rod. I don't think it was thundering and lightening but who could tell with all the fireworks. lol There were 6 people injured by lightening North of where we were sometime over the weekend. The electricity was suppose to be back on at 9:30 but it wasn't. It didn't come back on until 4:40 in the morning. It was cool enough we could sleep with the windows open or we would have packed up and gone home.

Took my motorhome to get it serviced for our trip to Florida on Thursday to pick up my grandson. It is going to be hot. My thermometer said 100 at one point. Decided to wash my motorhome when I got home. We have had so much rain it was turning green on the side that is on the outside of the rv port.

That was me. It is correctly spelled Kumato. They are a little more expensive than some tomatoes, but they taste good all year round. No more expensive than the Compari brand, however. Hope you like them as well.

Did I read on Tina's blog that Mitch had a birthday? Did I miss her cake? If so, Happy Belated Birthday, Mitch

Yes, yesterday was Mitch's birthday but I think she paid off the Cake Lady to forget the cake. She was too busy telling everyone that the reason she bounced back from being sick was because she was the "baby" here. Then she would forget and say that in front of Laura and Laura would just smile. :) Sadly she had to go over to the casino and win money by her self on her birthday. None of us that were left had the energy or health to move that far or sit up that long. :?

Yesterday I purchased Dreamer, my chainsaw bear. Today I picked up the sign he'll hold that I designed with the man who made it.

I also spent quite a bit of time with Chris and Larry. We took the tram.

And I became one with the "heads".

I had a great time with Chris and Larry and it looks like they'll be sticking around the area a few more days, so hopefully we'll see each other again.

OK this is kind of weird. Usually I know people's screen names but not their real names (like you all on here but I don't know some of you on FB) so I'm scratching my head trying to figure out Chris' screen name. Is she Red?

Anyone heard from Donna as to how Maggie is? I haven't seen her on FB either.
