Mitch, glad to hear you've had someone with you. I wasn't sure. I have no idea what I'd do in your situation: reconstruction or not. I have friends on both sides and each is happy with her decision. Breasts are a big deal to some, not to others. For those of us who are amply endowed, I think they take on a whole personality of their own. After all, men (and women) talk to them. Right? If I weren't sure, I think I'd hold off. It seems like less of a problem to add than to subtract if I changed my mind. But I don't know what that would mean in terms of health risks. Big hugs Mitch. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

Soos, "over the shoulder boulder holders!"   It's been a long long time since I've heard that one.

If I were to lose my boobs I would not replace them. I no longer wear dresses and have no desire to impress anyone or again try to catch a man.

You could have the help you need after that, but refuse. My offer still stands.

Glad I got to 65 before I read this. I'm sure that my boobs have not impressed anyone nor were they the criteria for either husband marrying me.

Mitch - sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but know that I am pulling for you. Can't help with the decision process either, but I think I'd go for getting both off at once. Don't want you to be lopsided and walking in circles :P Keep the faith & remember laughter is the best medicine.

Yeah, like you don't have enough to do!
I'll be fine after a week. I'll lock Abby in the bathroom with a big bowl of water and some newspaper on the floor. She'll be fine and I can rest!
So there!

Abby will just lie down quietly behind a closed door when she knows you are on the other side?  I have a couple dogs I want you to train.

I had a great fantasy about a fleet of rving women arriving at the Blue Marlin to help a friend heal. I imagined that we were all outside the hospital when she was released and gave her an escort home and then stayed and took care of things while she got well. Then we were on the news and were famous and Oprah gave us all new RVs. Wouldn't that be wonderful? Maybe I dreamed it.

DO NOT be stubborn about letting people help you for a little while - makes us feel good to be useful so just shut up and endure those of us who NEED to help. If nothing else its someone to bring you your wine. As for reconstruction, its a personal decision. Personally, I don't think I would choose to get new ones. I HATE bras and in the humid Texas heat I have two or three bra days just to keep dry.

I don't post too often, mostly I just read the posts. But I did want to add that I'm sorry you're going thru this. The good news is that there is excellent treatment these days. I've known a few women who have faced this same decision & all chose reconstruction. One gal got the slightly larger "package" but later wished she had gone a bit smaller. So it seems like an average B size is a good choice.

My exDH's ex-wife had immediate reconstruction and was very pleased. Her comment to me was "no more suits in the swimming pool!" Honestly don't know what my decision would be but either is correct.

Wasn't it Angelina Jolie who just had a double mastectomy as preventive care? Not that that compares in any way.

I was thinking today as I drove - how this has to have smacked you - first when the doctor originally told you. Then you and all of us cross everything we have hoping for it not to be true - and the doctor yesterday gives you the whammy again. I'm so, so glad your bff was there with you.

Vickie, I don't care WHAT Mitch says - I mean she told Phyllis she couldn't come THIS time - IF you can get there, and are able, then just GO. I sure wish I didn't have this "money" problem that requires me to do the "work" thing.

I couldn't find the pics (yet) of the person I met with amazing shots of herself - but there are lots of them online. Me, after looking, would go for the new smaller breasts right away - which wouldn't look as offensive as seeing the scars. Then again, those scars can tell a story all by themselves of how strong and powerful you are. So, you do what you decide is best for YOU. And we'll all support you.

Yes, this has all been a whirlwind of emotions.
But, it is what it is. Nothin' to do about it now but sit back and dream of itty-bitty boobies.

AND MS. DOOFUS - don't even think about it. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.

Where are you, Beth?
How's the drive going?

She can not only think about it, she can DO IT if she wants - and you can't stop her.

Didn't go as far as I intended today - but got something for you! Couldn't help myself. And, no, it has nothing to do with breasts of any size!

Drives going ok. Stopped to use the wifi at this place - and didn't get back on the road - so here I am, using up all my battery power. Let's see - 2 computers, 2 pads, my phone - I think I could be on most of the night (except I'm pretty sure the 2nd computer needs charging). Plan to put on lots of miles tomorrow. Ha, planned that for today -
