I'm sitting here drinking a hot chocolate while the rain pours down outside and it feels chilly (turned my little electric heaters on low to take the chill off a few minutes ago - and closed the two vents I've been keeping open all the time). Peaches is hugging my side. I'm sure she's glad this time I'm home and she has me to hug during the storm.

I spent today working on a website I'm building. After spending a couple weeks decided I was going to do it differently than others - today I went back to MY way of totally designing and not using a template, and I have my own template made and it's progressing so nicely. I should have known that even if the other way is "the way of the future" supposedly, I wouldn't find a template that could do as much as my builder and having total control. Or maybe it's just that I like to have control?

I'm hoping we have some nicer weather tomorrow. Chris (a woman who belonged to this forum years ago) has come up and is workamping with me now - she started yesterday. We're both off tomorrow and if the weather cooperates, I'll do another tour of Custer State Park and the tunnels, etc. And where ever else we decide to go. So many other places around here to see and things to do - but I'm always happy to go back and see any of the animals - and I love seeing the buffalo and their young this spring. And I can see how much those youngsters have grown in the month since I first took pics of them!

It seems to be getting a bit lighter outside - so hopefully this deluge is ending. That's the only good thing I can say about all the storms so far this season - they seem to not last too long (I know, I shouldn't say anything!)

Came back to add that the rain stopped and I have 8 deer outside grazing. Maybe more, but I counted 8 for sure.
On another note, one of my add-a-drawers got put on for me - by another workamper in Keystone. He got interrupted and couldn't do the others that day - so who knows when they'll get done. But within a couple minutes, I filled the first one. So convenient - it's got my hearing aid stuff and my tv remote and a couple pens - Doubt I'll get rid of all my junk with them, but any of it having a good place to go is good.

Yesterday I drove over to my dad's house, and on the way, I stopped a few blocks away from the house to check out the dam. The Grays Bay dam is at the very eastern end of Lake Minnetonka and the water flows into Minnehaha Creek which flows thru Minneapolis and into the Mississippi River. Because of the record rain falls this spring, the water is flowing heavily over the dam and flooding the creek. I grew up near there and wanted to see how high the water was there. I just stayed for a few minutes to take pictures and then left.

About a hour later, a local news crew showed up there to film the water going over the dam, and while they were there, a couple in a boat was having problems with their boat and were drifting close to the dam. A guy jumps in to help rescue them and pulls the boat to safety. Turns out the "hero" guy is one of the Minnesota Vikings. So the news crew got the whole thing on film and now it is national news! I missed the all the excitement by 1 hour! I will post pics later, since I seem to have misplaced my camera... got pics of my dad's flooded back yard too.

The big talk around town now is the raw sewage that was dumped into Lake Minnetonka to keep it from going into people homes. The beaches are all closed now and no swimming allowed on the lake.

Unfortunately, more rain coming tomorrow and then again over the weekend.

Low expected in the 50's tonight, so stoking the campfire. High 5 to JudyJB for driving through that dust storm. Some white knuckle driving there I expect.

Was a beautiful low 70's day here with a strong breeze. Spent the day hiking around Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie. Had the whole place to my self, well except for the cows who when they saw me walked with me for a bit. Babies were just as curious a the moms were. So cute!

Lucked out and found a big enough coin-operated car wash, so got all that dust off today! And got myself soaked, as usual. The problem with driving through storms is that you really don't have a choice most of the time, white knuckles or not. I was glad there was not hail as there was nearby, apparently.

Am settled down at Morefield Campground at Mesa Verde in Colorado. Drove 212 miles today, starting from 8,000 feet and up through 10,500 over Wolf Creek Pass, and back "down" here at 7,800 feet in elevation. Result is a migraine headache and vertigo, so had a rough time hooking water hose to spigot since it was 6" from ground and I kept getting dizzy. (Probably could use a bit of oxygen.) Then I had to fill my tanks up and put the hose away for the night in the compartment. Rangers said that the local black bear who wanders around the campground has learned that if he bites into a water hose he gets a nice drink of fresh water! Hope he doesn't start tasting electrical hoses.

I'm all settled in at the Super 8, in El Paso, IL. Nephew's wedding is in a barn, here, tomorrow. Picked up a goodie bag that my DSIL left for me at the front desk 8-) They have been out at the barn, getting ready for the wedding, all day. I didn't want to unhook Penny, so opted to stay here and have a salad and a beer. Visited with the young pipeline workers who are cooking out and having some beers. It was such a windy day, yesterday, in IA. Was worried about the drive, today, but no wind and beautiful day :D My DS is driving over from Peoria, tomorrow, and meeting me here at noon to take me to lunch, before the wedding. She is my oldest DS, but we get along great ;) I decided to wear jeans and boots to the wedding, since it is in a barn. The bride is a horsey gal. I took my hair on cowgirl boots to the shoe shop to get them all spiffied up and bought a new blouse, that looks totally "me". I'm looking forward to the day!

One of the guys knocked on my window. Gotta go have a beer :D

happy for those on the road right now, enjoying the sights and the cool air :D struggled with my ac today, the breaker kept tripping, finally dawned on me it had been a couple of weeks since I cleaned the filter so got the ladder out and the screwdriver and put in a clean one. Will get the old one washed up and ready to swap out next time. I'm really tired but I remembered to take my vitamins and calcium today so hopefully I'll feel better soon. Its the heat ya know, it just drains

Would that be your hair or the cow's hair on those boots?

I am also going to an outdoor wedding tomorrow after work. One of my co-workers is getting married in her parents back yard. Hopefully, the rain will hold off for the wedding.

Been busy here at Mesa Verde, most of it having nothing to do with the national park. Got a new mobile hotspot and new phone yesterday, which took two hours in the little nearby town. Then today went back to try to get my photos transferred, dropped off 7 prescriptions at Walgreen's, ate lunch at Denny's, then went back for prescriptions, picked up phones, and came home to campground. (It takes so much longer when you have to drive around a big vehicle, but that is my tradeoff for not towing. Had to circle several blocks to find places to park for all of these things.)

Lesson learned - don't leave electronics in the hot sun. My mobile hotspot has been acting funny lately, but I think I did it in leaving it velcroed to my window in the sun. Anyway, since contract was up, I got a good deal on both, but what a bother to set things up the way you like them!! :(

Then, I had been using a small diameter, curly hose to flush my toilet, which I think is not very effective. Last week I bought a newer, 15' long, bigger diameter one last week. (No-no using water hose.) So, since I have full hookups here, I got out and set up sewer connection, hooked up new hose and flushed black tank like crazy! I could tell by the sound that there was more flow, so let it go for a while. It cleaned up some sensors, and the odor problem I have been having lately has apparently been solved. Yea!

I still have not been able to find Calgon water softener. I have asked at three Wal-Mart's and two Lowes and they act like I am nuts. (They try to sell me fabric softener or salt for a water softener.) Does anyone know who might reliably carry it? It is supposed to keep the tank cleaner.

This is a link to the official Geo Method homepage where the guy tells all about how to use it. https://sites.google.com/site/cbruni/ He says it is hard to find but hopefully you can call Walmart or take the picture etc in and ask.
