Oh dear. What happened to her dog? I like to know about such things in the hope I might avoid the same situation should it ever arise. Please give your friend my most sincere condolences. Thank you.
I have three dogs, one not quite ready to cross over the bridge (almost 17 years old) who is the mother of my brother-and-sister pair (the pair are soon to be 13 years old).
My boy is not doing well of late, and I have him into the vet tomorrow. I hate it when they get so very old so very quickly. They are my heart.
I don't know which is worse. Having dogs of much the same age, who then go at much the same time, or spacing them out in age - so they go every year or two.
To lose a loved dog is to have a part of your soul destroyed. As each one leaves, they take a little bit of of it with them. And you never get it back.
I thought for a long time that when they are gone there will be no more dogs for me.
But without dogs, what is the point in living?
