I am really tired tonight too and am thinking of getting to bed soon, much earlier than usual. Fell asleep on the couch already while reading a book.

Amy, I didn't know there were mooses in Colorado! :? We have them in northern MN but I have never seen one. I collect whimsical moosie things. :D

Got a notice today that my rent is going up $50 a month. I also can't get a garage for the winter this year because the garages are all falling apart and unsafe. I may start looking for another apartment. There is a complex just down the road (on the lake) where I used to live that will allow me to have my ferrets, so I will check with them on any openings coming up. I just hate the thought of moving again tho. I also hate the thought of keeping my Jeep outside all winter.

Cold and rainy in California right now. I have gone in the last couple of weeks through the entire range of temperatures and weather. Hot to cold to hot and now back to cold and rainy. It was 90 when I got here two days ago, and I have come from near Crater Lake where I saw snow coming down and kept my heater and furnace going all night. Right now it is cold and rainy, which is a good reason to stay indoors today, which is what I intended to do anyway.

I turned in my grades and have been researching places to stay in Southern California and when I leave Yosemite in about three weeks. I found some COE parks with electric that area open and have plenty of spaces available, so at least I have lots of choices. And I made a solid reservation in a SoCa commercial campground for the 9 days where I need excellent internet access for my course. It is right in the middle of a small city, so I should be safe with good cell service. Also got a good rate because it is slightly off-season.

I baked one of my loaves of frozen bread dough this morning, and it tastes wonderful! With the homemade chicken noodle soup I made a couple of days ago, I am all set for the cold!

95 degrees in San Bernardino right now. Will cool off nicely for sleeping - but I know Peaches will like the cool down coming (not supposed to hit more than 87 or so tomorrow, then maybe just 80 Wed).

Worked my first day of this training week. Today was (as I expected) mainly the paperwork, etc for hr. Tomorrow will do the safety training and start on some of the ambassador stuff for my job. I think I'm going to enjoy this. But I learned today that I won't be in the dept I expected (and that I worked in both years prior). There is a little trepidation on my part - that I'm going to have to learn a totally different job this week to train others doing - but I also think it'll be nice to do something different.

Beth, you'll do great! Like you said, nice to learn something new! Judy, where are you gonna be in SoCal? I may be home by then or at least close. Had a nice day with the DIL and her sis in Ft. Smith today, looking for bras for her. Hard to find her size so I'm gonna look on line now that I know what she likes. Hard to find pretty padded no underwire bras for big girls. There may be a mini gtg in my future...stay tuned! :D I had a glass of wine earlier and now I'm not hungry. No one cooked tonite so that worked out well.

Judy, depending on where you want to be, there are a couple of nice county parks with hook-ups. You could check out Rancho Jurupa, in Riverside. Not much around, but it's a nice park. And then there's Lake Skinner, down by Temecula. It's more rustic, but also has hook-ups. If you want to be near town (city?) there's Puddingstone in San Dimas. But that's a commercial campground and pretty pricey. There are also places in the desert if you want to stay on the west end of the valley, like Desert Hot Springs. But you're getting into Snowbird time, so some places in the desert are going to book up. Rancho Jurupa and Lake Skinner don't though.

If I can help, let me know.

Thanks, Laura. I was just about to ask for recommendations. I am just not that familiar with southern California. The only hookup I really need is electric for TV and AC. What I do need, however, is at least some cell service so I can go online, otherwise I will have to pack up and drive out at least once a day to check my classes. (It is sometimes a pain to work and travel, but it certainly pays my bills.)

So far, I have reservations at Borrego Springs State Park from 11/1 - 8, and then Indian Waters RV Park in Indio for 11/10 - 19. I really prefer state or regional parks or COE, but they need to have cell service, which is why I picked the one in Indio. (I have several live oral presentation sessions scheduled on my syllabus for the 10th - 19th, so need excellent cell service, but the rest of the time, as long as I can connect or drive a couple of miles, I am happy.) I'd really rather be out somewhere I have a view and peace and quiet. I'm thinking of a few days in Death Valley in late November and after then I have no idea.

I keep consulting a map to see where places are. I am meeting my son and his family in Anaheim the second week of January and then made a reservation at LaGuna Beach and San Clemente, and then heading east to Lake Havasu after then.

Where do you two live?

Whew! You're going to be all over So. CA! :)

Where are you staying in Laguna? Crystal Cove? And San Clemente has 2 parts -- one with hook-ups and one without. I'm assuming that you're going to be in the hook-up side -- it's called San Mateo.

I'm in Azusa. If you look at a map, it's at the intersection of the 210 and 605 freeways. We just got done hosting the recent "Madre" fire.

Puddingstone would be quiet and you'd have hook-ups, cell phone service, and access to shopping (but probably not on your bike). Lake Skinner would be more remote, and I'm not sure if you'd have cell service but you could call to ask. And Rancho Jurupa would have everything, but maybe not a nearby grocery store (on your bike).

If you'd like to be in northern San Diego County you could check out the campground at the casino in Temecula. It's close to everything so you'd have cell service. Going further east down will cut down on cell service pretty significantly. But you could get to Indio/Borrego Springs going out Hwy. 79. There's a pretty big hill you'd have to go down -- I'm sure Sharon can chime in on that.

If you'd like to check out San Diego more, then the Chula Vista RV Resort is really nice. Again, it's a bit pricey, but it'll be off-season and you might get a weekly rate that isn't too bad. It's right on the harbor and real pretty. Good cell service, too. And then there's Santee Lakes, right in the center of town. Some sites have at least water & electricity, and there's a dump station at the park. I'm sure they've got cell service, since it's surrounded by neighborhoods.

So. CA isn't known for its county parks, but we have some and they're quite nice. And we sure don't have COE parks like other parts of the country do.

With you coming out here, you ought to check out Quartzsite. Can't remember if you've been there or not. But it's an experience everyone needs to experience. ;) You might be able to head there after your time in Orange County with your son & on your way to Havasu.

PM me with your phone # if you'd like to chat. I've lived here a long time and know where I like to go. Others might like different things, so hopefully they'll add their two cents and you'll have lots to choose from! :)

You will love the beach communities! I love San Clemente! Very picturesque up on a hill overlooking the ocean! Can't vouch for any campgrounds out there. The only one I stayed at was up in Mt Laguna in the mountains and it got all burned up a couple months ago  . If you are that close to San Diego, it is worth going all the way there to explore. Very beautiful city and not nearly as intimidating as LA. Indio is nothing to write home about, but if you head west (just down the road aways) to Palm Desert and Palm Springs there is lots to see and do. Very nice communities with lots of shopping, etc. Altho, in Indio, you have to stop at one of the date farms and have a date shake! Sounds not too appetizing but they are surprisingly very sweet and yummy! You can also check out the movie they show called "The Sex Life of a Date"! :o

.........................

I worked 10 hours today and it was crazy busy! I did 25 haircuts! One of the girls I work with who is a good friend of mine, lost her dog yesterday in a tragic, freak accident and she is devastated! She came in to work for awhile but had to leave because she was so upset. I filled in her shift after mine was over. I feel so bad for her! Her dogs are her kids. She is supposed to work tomorrow too. We'll see. I may end up covering for her again tomorrow night if needed. It is her birthday tomorrow too. Will be very bittersweet for her.

I will try to get some of the cowboy pictures loaded and edited tomorrow but this cowgirl life is tiring. :)

A distributer came in tonight and we had a wine tasting before dinner. Between the bottles that she brought in and the wines several of us had bought yesterday......well, there isn't so much wine left. someone asked if maybe I would make another town run tomorrow to resupply. the last wine I had was at supper but that was not the case all around.I have several pictures that will explain a lot......like the pile of empty wine bottle. About half of the ladies had gone on to bed but that left the rest of us.....one of the young cowboys stayed and shared our wine.....it is a long story to be told over a campfire in the future, but the ending was six of us walking him down the lane to the bunkhouse because we were not quite sure he would make it on his own. I was the only one to grab a flash light.....and that lane was dark.

Anyway, Mitch, your cowboy pictures will be coming eventually. And there maybe one of a very bleary eyed 19 year old who drank too much wine with some women old enough to be his mother and/or grandmother.... We did make sure he got home safely and no one took advantage of the cute thing.....
