How about the box my boots came in?! We still haven't found it, they did however accept the boots returned without the box. :)

Sorry, I have none of those items ... that box might have come in handy, though - to replace one that I was storing some things in that got wet.

Don't you love how we lose things in such small places?

Man, I thought this was just me.

On my very first outing a couple of weeks ago, the really hard part was that I couldn't find stuff.

I mean, I have a (relatively) tiny cargo van - COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. Part of the problem, I am sure, is that I got in a hurry towards the end, and was just shoving stuff in the door so I could get on my way.

But not being able to find stuff was majorly frustrating. Whatever I was looking for was always in the last place that I looked - and a couple of things I never found until I got back home! Unbelievable!

What do you all do? Make a list of where stuff is, and put the list in the glove box or something (the danger here being, of course, of not being able to
find the list. . .)?

Suggestions appreciated!

I tried the list thing once (including what was in the fridge and what was in the cooler).
Didn't work because you get in a hurry and put stuff back in a place not on your list.
Vickie laughed at me.

Packing for Baja, I'm trying to just make an extra effort to remember where I put stuff. So far, so good. I use bins to keep related items together - like one for batteries and recharge cords, one for medicine/first aid, one for solar panel cables, etc.

We'll see if this works better than the List Method! :)

When I lived in my semi everything had it's assigned place. When I moved trucks I tried to stay to the original design as much as possible. Since I was alone (except for students) things tended to stay were I put them.

The camper now is a different story as I have help. When we clean out the camper in the fall is when we find most of it and the extras to replace what we could not find. Totes are a big help to me as are bins to keep cabinets organized. Walmart and Dollar General if you look you can get deals but you have to look. Clearance isle is also a must check. In truth, the clearance isle is my partners forte but I'm learning. Biggest thing is to get into a habit of where you put things. It's like keeping tract of the remote, but on a larger scale. :o

Try very hard to not move something because you think you found a better spot for it. I promise you'll not remember you did that.

My trick is to come in from shopping and stuff what I bought in a very safe place until I can
find a better place. Never can find it again. Also missing two nutmeg graters I bought three weeks ago.

Dumb thing is that I keep doing the same thing!

Just curious as to why you needed two nutmeg graters?

I probably would have just dropped it in the silverware drawer :D where I could have easily found it by pulling out the silverware
tray and looking behind and underneath everything that shifted and moved around as I tootled on down the road.
I kind of "assign" certain places for stuff and stick to that. Its when I clean!!!! that I loose stuff.

OMG. This is so me!

I like everyone's suggestions. I think I will start packing - slowly now for my next trip - whenever that will be. If I do it slow - and don't move anything to a "better spot" later - maybe where stuff is will stick in my mind!!

Or not. . . :?

One nutmeg grater is a gift for someone else. And the good news is that I found them in a dresser drawer last night. Have no idea why I put them there. Fresh nutmeg is excellent in banana nut bread and my old one kept breaking.

Don't have a cheesecake recipe but would be very happy if you shared yours!
