Sandi, my first thought when I saw the horse was a calming serene picture. I hope it was for you too painting it.

Pretty horse picture Sandi. Love it! Was it based on a picture of your horse?

Love your paintings Sandi, it reminds me a bit of Winifred Nicholson's work. I added a couple of links you can check out. I have a book of her work but we've had it quite awhile and I'mnot sure if it still in print.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winifred_Nicholson
"Winifred Nicholson was a colorist who developed a personal impressionistic style, concentrating on domestic still life objects and landscapes. She often combined the two subjects as seen in her painting From Bedroom Window, Bankshead showing a landscape viewed through a window, with flowers in a vase in the foreground."

Thank you all. After our discouraging experience in court on Thursday, I just wanted to work on a calming subject. I started out thinking I would try painting my horse, Reno, that I had for 25 years starting when I was 10, but had trouble recreating her color - chestnut - which is a reddish brown with a flaxen forelock and mane. If I was going to paint her, I wanted to do her justice, but got frustrated and wasn’t satisfied with what i came up with. So I decided to tackle that project another time. I settled on the dapple gray in a field of flowers.

BJ, thanks for the link to Winifred Nicholson. I had not heard of her. I see how you arrived at the comparison, but I think I have a long way to go to even come close to her level. I’m going to take some time to study her paintings and hopefully I’ll be able to learn some things to improve my paintings.

Thank you all again.

I love Halloween, Sandi, always have, always will, ever since I was a small child.

I live in a largely "anti-vax - anti-mask" area (with the attendant infection and death rate), and so, after much thought, I regretfully decided not to celebrate Halloween for the second year in a row this year.

I guess I am just too much of a chicken, especially considering that most children of Trick-or-Treat age will not yet be vaccinated. And probably most here never will be at all, considering the area I live in.

Makes me very, very sad. Last year was the first year in - at least - fifty years I did not decorate my house up to the "nines" for Halloween. Makes me extremely sad, to the point of weeping.

BUT.

Seeing your happy and cheerful Halloween message/painting, I feel considerably cheered.

Hopefully, and God willing, this wretched plague will finally (somehow!) be put in the rear-view mirror, and I will still be around this time next year to celebrate a blow-out Halloween.

Thank you so much, Sandi. Very much appreciated. You made my day.
